8 weeks of rodgers being put in front of the media to answer why there was no transfer activity while there wasnt a squeak from the club hierarchy.

The club captain publically asking for strengthening (umprecedented!)

Fans and media churning out content afyer content asking what was going on at the club in the complete absence of any kind of club communication.

Desmonds statement is beyond cowardly in that context.

    Regardless of fault..

He hasn't kept his word, again..

He sulked and downed tools, instead of fighting to preserve his legacy.

In fairness to him I hold no grudge that he’s decided to walk. The situation was quickly becoming unrecoverable so you’d rather he fell on his sword and walked than do what Lennon did and stubbornly dig his heals in to the bitter end knowing the board weren’t going to take the appropriate action.

Since he’s went and the subsequent car crash of a statement, along with social media posts by players it’s now evident just how bad things were behind closed doors. He wouldn’t have been able to turn things around even if he absolutely desperately wanted to (which I actually don’t think he did).

I respect the fact he’s walked I just wish for his sake he did it the day after the window closed.

He really should have. I would have had a lot of respect for him if he did, conversely I don't like the way he's acted and spat the dummy out since then.

He should have walked the moment the Dolberg deal collapsed tbh.

Brendan Rodgers downed tools a long time ago with fleeting moments where he was still actually bothered.

Now, that does not excuse the DD statement, because there is plenty of blame to go around on both sides, BR and the Executive. Really wish BR had just gone in the summer, but here we are... Much more to say on the subjrc when I get home this evening.

Tbf depending on your opinion of him you could spin it whichever way you wanted. You could say he’s spat the dummy out and given up, or you could say he’s come to the realisation he was no longer the guy for the job and did the decent thing and resigned before it’s too late.

Lennon was quite rightly hounded for hanging around like a bad smell waiting for his pay off so I don’t see how Rodgers can be called a rat for doing the opposite?

Also that’s not me suggesting he’s blameless in all this either. He takes his share of the responsibility for the mess we find ourselves in but the one constant in it all are the * in the boardroom. Players, managers, coaches will come and go but these dinosaurs are free to continue running the club into the ground.

I didn't mean resigning was spitting the dummy, I was talking about his demeanour and handling of the team since September 1st.

Is anyone surprised his demeanour and approach changed since that window?

Let's be honest all of us have been seething for months. Obviously he would be too. One thing I'm certain of, is he did want the best quality footballer in the door here and it didn't transpire. I think I'm correct in saying we ended every window he was here in profit?

I'm surprised he stayed as long. I'm not surprised that he's walked away and don't blame him.

As above, he will be called a "rat" for doing so and would have been called a "rat" if things continued and he stayed taking his wage. Ever since he returned it was quite evident that no matter what he did, a section of the fanbase wouldn't take to him.

He spent around £70m in transfers in 5 windows but brought in over £130m. So, not sure if that means every window was profit but certainly every season was.

When ya reckon we will get BRs response? He doesn't come across as a man that will take that character assassination sitting down. I really hope he comes out guns blazing

Two strikers sold for £16m and replaced by a free agent from Rodgers phone book 24hrs after the window closed.

    Rat!

Board are the main villains here but some serious revisionism going on around Rodgers. He didn't improve one player (bar maybe scales). His signings didn't seem like his signings and the football was an absolute slog to watch for 3 years bar a little patch between end season 1+ start season 2.. Rodgers had to go sooner rather than later. If Desmond/board get the right man in, have a good January and win the league there will be * all on here in June pining for Rodgers.

He literally just came out and said he has never been more determined to succeed at Celtic.. whats changed? Hopefully Rodgers tells us, maybe he had a look at his January transfer budget.

I do agree the timing works, season in still salvageable and the new manager can bring in his players in Jan.

You can't say that tbh. Desmond has probably payed him off. Told him to resign.

I'm more confident now that we can win on sunday. O'Neil do your magic for a fortnight then go.
