Other teams manage it in adequate time to get the quality they need. Maybe we’re asking too much for us to act professionally though. Again, you were talking * last summer, then in January and had to backtrack. I’ll also say again, I hope you are right and we do bring in the quality I, and others on here want. You are obviously content with getting scudded in Europe though.

I wanted him gone a large portion of last season but he done a great job of turning it round. Honestly think he, like most of us, was scunnered with our transfer dealings and will be again this season unless something changes drastically in the coming weeks.

Wouldn't surprise me to see him walk away again at this rate.

You mean the same soundbites we’ve literally been fed every single year for * knows how long and we almost always come out the transfer windows having not addressed key areas?

Do you never get tired of trolling?

Some people happily swallow the bullshit we’re fed by the manager/board every season. Delude themselves into thinking that this time it’s going to be different.

They have absolutely zero desire for us to improve. See it on Twitter all the time and even on here.

I thought he was being cute TBH. He said that and then literally his next sentence was, "And I would expect us to add to that and be stronger by the time the window closes."

He actually did something similar several times a bit later on. For example, the bit where he explained the need for patience and immediately followed that by saying, "But as long as by the 31st of August we've improved our team and our squad, then we'll all be really happy."

And then a bit later once more, he reiterated that it was more complicated than many people realise; but yet again immediately followed that up by saying: "but of course we know, we uh the most important thing is that we do improve the squad and look to do that over the course of the rest of the window."

Since you mentioned your favourite bit, here are a few of my favourite bits. I'll start with a couple of quotes:

"We've still got just under four weeks to to bring the players in that'll hopefully be the difference for us."

"And then in Europe, we have to be better in Europe. Simple as that. You can't beat about the bush we look at where we're at, we have to be better. But in order to be better it's no... the players that that... you need quality. And if you're going to improve in that, then we need to find that. It's as absolute simple as that."

Perhaps the most telling moment, though, was when he was asked whether he was "happy with where [his] squad are personnelwise, but also fitnesswise and tacticalwise." He spent almost 2 minutes waxing lyrical about the work he'd done in terms of fitness and tactics and said not a single word in answer to the main question about personnel.

Taken together, this was a pretrty clear message IMO. Ange levels of media savvy.

Don’t get it at all. As a fan, you want to see the best possible team on the park. Some fans would rather come up with all sorts of excuses as to why we can’t have a better left back than Greg Taylor, or replace Scales at centre half. Frightening.

I'm surprised noone has questioned him yet regarding the clubs plans for the recruitment structure.

Surprise probably not the right term, as rhe media in this country are gash. But it would be nice to have some transparency.

That's still one of my biggest concerns tbh. We must be the only club going into the UCL this season without a director of football or a head of recruitment. It's bizarre they aren't being questioned on it. So *.

What happened to the fan media stuff? Scrapped?

Can't really disagree in terms of that side of things.

Communication is awful. It would really help to ease some concerns (or perhaps increase them:56:)

Wouldn't shock me if he starts getting questioned on it the longer we go without any additional signings.

We are at squeaky * time now, not just with incomings, but we're doing really poor with outgoings as well. To have guys like Lagerbielke, Kobayashi, Johnston, Kwon and Yang still at the club is really, really poor.

We really need a signing or 2 over the next 2 weeks to calm the nerves, can't go into the last 2 weeks of the window needing around 4 players. With the latest news on Balikwisha I don't think we're getting a winger this window.

The only real surprise is O'Riley is still here, and I have a feeling we might end up keeping him, but if he goes and we're still without any new players, it's not going to be pretty.

Run by dinosaurs with zero ambition with absolutely no idea how to take the club forward on the park.

So your insight here, is that he wants and expects to bring in quality players? Is this supposed to be even remotely relevant?

I dread the thought of this place and the wider scene if we don't come out of this window with at least 4 or 5 new outfielders. Minus Idah and Bernardo.

I said I'd be concerned if we reached the last week of July without anything substantial and we are now past that.

The point about the recruitment is more a longer term concern for me. I kinda knew it wouldn't be sorted for this summer.

But are we gonna continue like this into January? Longer? It's not a case of moaning or being negative to ask for transparency from the club regarding what is a pretty big issue.

I thjnk as a fan base we are relatively patient :56:

Just explaining how several of us read his comments, which is rather different from how you read them. I actually don't really see your reading at all. I think it only makes sense if either you rip the comments you highlighted out of their context or if you assume there's an alternative world where he comes out all guns blazing against the board when the window is still ongoing.

He more or less implied that Bernardo should mainly be a squad player this season but one with potential for development. That means we've brought in one guy for the first team so far: Kasper Schmeichel. Someone Rodgers knows personally and who came on a free (i.e. no credit due to the board on that).

We basically relied on Ange during his first two seasons for the majority of signings. Obviously Hart, McCarthy, CCV and Scales weren't his but I'd be willing to say the rest were, and Scales, McCarthy and Hart didn't exactly take much scouting, two were irish and the other was a GK we were linked with a year earlier.

Same recently, I think it's clear the likes of Yang, Kwon, Tilio were signings Ange had on his list, Lagerbielke was clearly a recommendation from Starfelt's agent and Nawrocki was likely recommended to us with whatever scouts we had left in regards to the Juranovic deal, and Idah, Phillips and Schemichel were obviously all Rodgers.

That leaves Sinisalo, Kuhn, Holm and Palma as players I think we're actually scouted, and the latter 3 couldn't break into the team and the first boy, whilst really talanted, will clearly be back-up this season.

I've no doubt we will get at least another 3/4 players, I think it's a lock we get a LB, CB and a ST and if O'Riley leaves I do think we'll replace him, but if Beck is our main LB target we could have got him back in early July, and the Idah situation is really dragging on. CB is the one position I get why it would take a while, but the others don't really have that excuse.

I don't think we'll truly progress as a club until Desmond and co step down, we got rid of Bankier but Lawell and Nicholson also need to follow.
