If you are talking about Sevco, they pay half of what we pay

None of the greatest managers of Celtic had such weak competition domestically. Not to mention the smaller scottish clubs who once werent a punchbag to shady eastern european teams in Europe. All this fawning over winning in Scotland is not completely unfair but needs to be put in perspective. Yes, he is better than Deila. Is that enough?

Domestically I don't think there is anyone we can realistically get here who would do a better job. But in Europe i think even Lennon would do a better job.

    Domestic superiority is paramount.

European football gives us a barometer as to where we're at as a team tho. And that has been a disappointment. In general ..

    Lenny is a downgrade.

If he were to leave in the next few seasons and Steve Clark was attainable, i think we would see our board move for him.
Maybe not a glamorous name, but the impact and what he has achieved in his time with Killie has been remarkable and he has shown himself to be a very good coach and conducts himself very well.
Some have said his style of play wouldnt suit, but he has Killie very organised who still try to attack the bigger sides and he has never been at a team who are a lot stronger than the others in the league before.
He wouldnt require a lot, if any compensation and for that reason alone Lawell will have him near the top of any potential candidate to replace BR.

Won't miss the thumpings in europe :giggle1: but joking aside, we're capable of being thumped heavily by the likes of Barca or PSG no matter who we have in charge. I'm just really enjoying racking up these league titles and we have Brendan to thank for this.

I doubt we'll get a manager the calibre of Brendan again.

Well you know you say that, but we are also capable of doing a * of a lot better than what we have shown. As good as BR has done domestically, after three seasons under him in europe now, we are still blighted with the same issues and it shows no signs of changing. Despite this, he still states in the media that we are learning. Truth be told, we simply are not and his tactical naivety is an issue.
The basis of our team on thursday night has remained the same for the majority of his tenure- Boyata, jozo, Brown, Mcgregor, Forrest, Sinclair. And many of the “younger” players who he was referring to wont be here next season, and so will we really have “learned” as a team? Is he now devoid of criticism because of what he has done domestically? How long will the fans buy these excuses?

It now seems to be accepted within the support that we might get beaten comfortably. Under MON, Strachan and even Lennon, we used to go into every home game against quality sides believing we can win.
The alarming fact about Thursday is that we were so poor ourselves, that Valencia didnt really have to excel to beat us. It was comfortable for them and we looked like amateurs.

The very fact that within their domestic lesgues, smaller teams than us with far lesser budgets than us, do achieve decent results against the bigger sides suggests we can and should be doing a lot better, especially at Celtic Park.

The 7 in a row, 10 in a row or whatever it turns out to be looking back in the future will always be remembered as the time Rangers went bust and had to rebuild.

Out of those 7 titles, Rangers have only been involved in 3 of them, 2011/12, 2016/17 and 2017/18, the 4 years in between can be treated as fairly meaningless and a foregone conclusion. That’s the first excuse any Rangers fan will use, or in fact any football fan outwith Celtic. It was a period of dominance in a one horse league.

Saying that, Brendan has done well domestically, 7/7 trophies and the invincible season. Credit where credit is due. Since the invincible season though, Celtic no doubts about it have declined, the team from 16/17 would absolutely anhialate this team of 18/19 today. This team of today going ahead against Man City 4 times? Not a hope in *.

I wouldn’t be sad to see Brendan go, personally think doing better in Europe is worth more than winning another league Cup or Scottish Cup. I would honestly trade this 8th season league campaign to win against say a Chelsea in Baku in May.

A UEFA cup or an 8th title? UEFA cup every time for me. Celtic are now a Mickey Mouse club outside of Scotland and that’s really hard to take considering where we have been going back throughout our history.

Think he will be away at the end of the season personally. The team requires a complete rebuild in the summer, all the loaners returning and players out of contract saying bye bye. He won’t be around to rebuild this team again and go through the same process again.

The 8th league is ours now to be fair. The Huns currently drawing against St Johnstone with 3 mins to go. We win tomorrow and that’s 8 points in front.

8th league title or a UEFA cup? What would you rather have and why?

Fair enough it ruins the run to 10 and a good point. Me, personally, just getting fed up of being the whipping boys in Europe now.

We can’t compete in the Champions League and by the looks of it, we can’t compete in Europe’s Mickey Mouse Cup either. That’s hard to stomach.

That’s the way football is now mate.

The teams in big leagues are getting richer and stronger each year whilst we get £3m for winning the league.

Last season we had PSG and Bayern in our Cl group but still made the Europa, that was our target. This season we’ve made the knockout rounds which was our target. Yep it would be ideal to have a run in the comp but the draw wasn’t kind tbh. Valencia won’t be far away from the final.
