Ok, since the great days of automatic qualification how does our record fair? I would imagine on a percentage ratio Rodgers is right up there....

    We’re paying him £2.5 a year and spending £60m a year.

CL is the absolute bare minimum we should be getting. Interesting though that AEK team that put us out had two centre halves cheaper than ours yet stil put us out.

    Rodgers needs backed though...

Every possible criticism of him tonight has probably already been said, but it really * me off how he brings out the same learn from our mistakes line in every press conference after a european defeat, we've been losing games in the same manner since he got here and we don't seem to have learned at all.

Again the business model is flawed thentnot Rodgers.

Tell me. Who better for our European progression than Brendan then?

Lots of folk seem to cite Lennon’s tenure as some sort of ‘transfer dealings’ success. People like to forget some of his horrendous signings:

    Amido Balde
    Mo Bangura
    Derk Boe
    Mouyokolo
    Pukki
    Miku
    Blackman
    Brozek
    Ambrose (!)

Have we brought in any one player as poor as that list since we have had Brendan?

    Compper aside lol

    Rodgers isn’t flawed. Amazing.

Literally any manager we could afford with a better European record and doesn’t continually get embarrassed in Europe.

Fucksake Strachan has achieved more in Europe than Rodgers with a defence consisting of Naylor Telfer McManus and Caldwell.

The idea that were doing as much as we can in Europe shows how much Rodgers has drained the support with his European record.

Spot on I'm sick of these pish European home results being almost normalised. It's a disgrace.

At the end of the match Rodgers seemed a bit teary eyed walking onto the pitch, maybe the reality of possibly his last home European game as Celtic Manager.

Anything in the rumour Lennon engineered his Hibs exit so Lawwell wont have to pay Petrie a penny in the Summer?

Don't blame Brendan for tonight. Our players couldn't do the basics of passing, defending and general decision making. When that happens, you struggle. Especially at this level.

Their 442 somehow out crowded and outmoved are extra man advantage in the centre of the park. Needs to change it up overall in Europe, tonight wasnt the time to do it, but again, don't do the basics then it's up hill struggle alright.

Thought Burke up front was the wrong move in this game.

Not sure if he instructed both full backs not to venture forward and the Brown and Mcgregor with possibly hanging back, for me they were the 4 worst players on the park. Both midfielders caused the goals with poor possession.

Sincy never got into the 2nd half but for me shouldn't have been taken off as for me was the only person who looked like he could do something.

All in all I'm putting it down to a bad day at the office as the players use of the ball was scarily bad, but do think possibly the way he set us up looked off.

Yet one Virgil will pay for all of that. Then you can add in Forester, Vic and Hooper. If your shopping in the bargain basement you are more likely to find duds than gems yet in his tenure the gems more than made up for the duds in terms of profit.

Another advantage is were paying a pittance in wages by comparison to the present wage bill.

He had us starting good. Players where passing around quality and tbh we looked rather good. Then they changed up and we never. Suddenly we turned to * and never recovered. It was almost like we had no midfield.

Imagine if we don’t do the 10 lol. Years of being the European whipping boys for nothing. Because apparently we can’t do both at the same time - win domestically and look like a half decent side in Europe.

    Laughable

first 20 mins to the next 70 we looked like two different teams

our passing was utterly awful , im not too sure regardless of the gaffer , simple passes going astray/to the oposition/out of play etc can be blamed on anyone other than the players

another game in europe where we conceded goals from us giving the goal away , same old usual as always

im 100% sure i'll be writing the same next friday morning

We've shown real ambition to get Rodgers to do the job in the first place.

But lets not kid ourselves, Scottish football is stagnate, it's money (TV etc...) is pish and likely around about the same if not less then what we used to receive during MON days.

We only make money because of shopping in poundland and every once in a while find real gems like VVD, Wanyama, Dembele who help maintain profits when we aren't in the CL proper.

You only have to look at how far Scotland has fallen down the coefficients and how hard it is to get in the CL because of the overall decline in this country.

We live in fantasy where we think it's still the norm to be beating Juve, Barca, Man U, Benefica among loads others at home, when the reality is teams like Valencia, Salzburg and teams of that ilk are above us.

EDIT: how many teams who win trophy's every year, be it their league, domestic titles or in europe turn a profit on player transfers?.

7 trophies out of 7 domestically.

Qualified for CL 2 out of 3 times yet we get beaten off a much better/expensive team in the knockout stages of the EL without 2 of our starting back 4, due to injuries and people are wanting him sacked?

Be careful what you wish for.

Yes, we were * all over the park. This is what can happen when we're not used to playing teams with quality every week.

Rodgers needs to change his tactics in Europe or we'll keep seeing these results but if he keeps winning domestically then I'll still be happy.

He’s doesnt have a clue in Europe. This season is his first real test domestically, he had a fairly easy ride last couple years.

Quite a lot of pressure on him for Sunday now. If we lose he ovbs wouldn’t get sacked but he will be letting rangers back in.
