As previously said Taz deserves a lot of credit for running this, as it must take a fair bit of effort so cheers or that :50:

So who is in the final again :97:

    Battle of the Bands IX

As it happens, over the course of 8 BotB, only 2 Australian acts have ever made an appearance, so it's time to change that. And in a way am happy about that, because it means that there really will be the very best of Aus hopefully represented here, alol.

This was always my intended BotB IV, originally scheduled to be run in March this year, but then my absence and Minty's UK v US season kinda took the thunder immediately from running another geographical season so close, haha.

But the reason I had wanted to do this back in March and doing it now, is that it was 20 years ago in March that I left Australia, and have only fleetingly been back ever since, for a grand total of about 6 months in all that time.

But a the song goes, I still call Australia 'home'.

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbGuqmaDgLA[/ame]

And besides, Tom Rogic played a blinder this weekend, so hey, if not for me, then hopefully will inspire him to keep putting out performances like that, haha.

    Eligibility

Yeah, ok, will allow Kiwis also, alol.

Any Australian band or solo artist is eligible, including those previously featured. This also includes any band which includes at least 1 Aussie or Kiwi, and any international artist that has resided in Australia for over 2 year minimum (so this includes the likes of Ben Folds, Evan Dando etc) and so that basically includes all those Kiwis from NZ as well. :icon_mrgreen:

And believe me, there are some absolutely awesome acts and sounds that have not been tapped into as yet in this comp, and ersonally I have been looking forward to hosting this particular BotB since last year.

    **************

    Please Note

Something for you all to think about. I won't be running this for a few weeks, but this is so people can start putting some thought to it.

I will accept nominated artists AFTER the reveal of the winner of BotB VIII.

Twenty years of living in New Zealand, America, Canada and mostly here in Scotland and putting up with all you lot. :bbpd:

I need a break, as as a trip home isn't possible at this time, this will have to do. :smiley-laughing002:

Time to make me feel a little less homesick. :50:

After 4 was 9-5-6 in favour of The Jam.

What would the next 4 votes do?

It would close the gap, highlighting with just a few votes, how anything can change, and change suddenly.

The Jam held a slender 1 point advantage of REM here, 10-1-9 going into this next block of votes. Would things change?

When last we were at Song A, scores were delicately poised, with The Jam and The Pogues joint leaders, but REM still easily within striking distance, 15-15-10.

What would the next block of votes have in store?

Narrowly taking a 1 point lead over the Jam, but REM still withing striking distance once again, just as they were in Song C and were able to force the comeback.
