Yes i did....i played within the rules, but i didnt think the wide ranging criteria for entry was fair to the actual 'girls'.
(Hammer will be accusing me of patronising them now!...Cannae win)

 

That was my first BotB, it was fun to take part in. Would recommend.

Artists I liked - Portishead and Waxahatchee. I'd already heard a little bit of Portishead but the songs from that concert in New York were class. Will look that up again sometime, probably not when there's a razorblade near by though. :smiley-laughing002: Waxahatchee was completely new to me. Really liked two of her songs, the other not so much. Will be looking her up on Spotify to listen to some more of her stuff.

Artists I didn't - The Pixies, hated all of their songs. The Fugees, after Killing Me Softly things went downhill fast.

It was interesting seeing some of the artists people chose. Never would have believed Doris Day or Nancy Sinatra would have been part of this competition. Quite random. Good though. Having artists like that in it provided some variety, which I liked.

I said to Taz before the quarter final(I think) that I thought Talking Heads would win this. I just had a feeling that's the way the wind was blowing. So it proved.

It's been good having this on the go for the past few weeks. It's been the most entertaining thread on the forum for me.

* - at the SF reveal I switched votes 17-19 with 14-16 in the Adele/WHST S/F to add drama and slightly closer score before the blowout that votes 14-16 had been (14-1 in favour of Adele), which made the last 3 icing on the cake after clinching the win at 43. As above is the actual order the votes were recieved in.

How the * I made it through the QF I'll never know.

Seems like I got pumped person to person, I just sneaked through with my picks giving me 4-1 or 5-0 as opposed to getting 2-3 by the others.

 

Surprised Vinnie hadn't already come across Talking Heads before now. He is usually pretty on point with his tastes in music.

On another note, payouts have been made to everyone, prizes & bonuses for Group wins etc. Anyone have any issues, let me know.

To swoop who was disappointed in my song choices. I was trying to keep it mainstream as much as I could. I've learned that is the way to go far in botb. Yuo need to appeal to everyone.

I did miss Road to Nowhere though. Surprised at that.
