    [Welcome to BOTB 7!

    Europe v North America

When does it start? 31st May

So, for anyone who hasn't entered a Battle of the bands before, here is a quick summary of what happens. You pick a band based on the theme, then you submit songs by your band, for each round. Rounds will be themed, so you pick a song that fits the round's theme. For example, there is a live round, so you pick a live version of a song for that round, then the next round (if you get through) will have another theme.
At the beginning, the bands are split into groups. So once the songs are submitted, I post each group's songs. You then vote on the groups that your band is not involved in, scoring will be explained at that stage.
If the other members like your songs, you go through to the next round. The first couple of rounds will have a playoff elimination, to give people the chance for survival.

Sounds simple enough? Don't worry if you're confused, a PM to me or a question in the thread will get you answers. The regular entrants are always happy to help too. Get involved, the more the merrier.

    Prizes:
    Winner receives: 1.5m V's
    Runner up: 400,000 V's
    Semi-final: 100,000 V's

New for BOTB 7: Submission rules and a fair warning.

Please do not enter the competition if you're going to be active enough to submit.

With that in mind, there will be shorter submission and voting deadlines in this BOTB. If you enter, you are expected to vote on the songs, even after you've been eliminated. I understand that not everyone can do this every round, but it's only fair to the other entrants.

    Submission rules:

If you miss the deadline to submit a song (approximately 2-3 days), I will submit in your place to keep the competition moving. I will not make any effort in to choosing a song, I will pick the first one I can find/think of.

    Voting rules:

Not a rule as such, just a warning that voting windows will become shorter as more artists are eliminated, so please check the thread to ensure you get the chance to vote.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

Finally, there will be an entry process, to ensure that the theme fits.

There will be a limited number of slots available for this BOTB, meaning the entrant upper limit will be capped at 26. There's never been this many entrants, so this isn't excluding anyone and still leaves some space for newbies.

Ideally, I'd like 12 European bands v 12 American bands. As long as the number of bands of one continent matches the other, then we're good to go.

So, the first 12 people to pick a band have a week long window, from now, to select a European band. The following week will have a week long window for those wishing to submit a North American band.

The first groups will be European bands facing one another and NA bands facing one another, before we move on to the intercontinental battles.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

If we get 12 European bands in quickly, then the NA window will open earlier. Subsequently, if we get all bands in before 31st May, I will bring the start date forward.

So, if you want a European band, submit your choices now. First come, first serve. If you want a North American band, wait a week.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

ALL bands and artists, even those used in previous BOTB editions, are once again available for selection, as long as they are from Europe or North America.

    Good luck.

So it's got to be a band?

    No solo?

Since I finished 2nd in the last one, can I be seeded and automatically qualify for the knockout rounds?

Was there not a rule in the last one that you can't pick a band that's been used in a previous competition?

    If so, is that continuing?

Yes there was. But I'm removing it for this one.

I can't decide whether to go with my initial idea for Europe or wait for America.

I have chosen someone from a previous BOTB who I don't think fulfilled their potential :50:

I'm the same. Got a good pick for Europe and America, but can't decide which to go with.

Europe's selection of bands is ridiculously strong.

I actually ended up submitting my European choice about two minutes after I posted that :smiley-laughing002:

Of the two you're thinking about, is there one your less familiar with? In the last two BotB I've tried choosing groups I like, but only really know their bigger hits. It makes it a bit more fun, in that I can't just immediately plan out what songs I'm going to use throughout the competition (and I hopefully discover some decent songs along the way).

Formed in London so they're Europe.
