Finally got stuck into Rizzio by Denise Mina the other day. Read it in one setting, really short and easy to read, good bit of historical fiction written in an interesting style, almost mixing aspects of reportage with playwriting, blending the contemporary and historical.

 

Finished Irving Welsh's Dead Man's Trousers and loved it. Likely the last installment in his Trainspotting series its another classic ride of chaos and hilarity. Highly entertaining and a great way to close out the series.

 

Decided to work way through all of Stephen King's books during Covid. About halfway through now.

Reading alongside regular ones also.

 

Finished Michael Connolly's courtroom crime novel The Fifth Witness and enjoyed it.

 

Finished Isaac Asimov's The Gods Themselves. I am a big Asimov fan but must admit this was not up to his usual brilliance. Although given it is a sci fi novel set around finding a too good to be true but nonetheless seemingly limitless source of energy to power earth it is topical.

 

Just started reading Rich Dad, Poor Dad. Have to say I'm finding it quite interesting. I'm defo in the poor dad realm of thinking!

 

It's a very good for teaching you the financial smarts. I've got a copy in the house.
The author Robert Kiyosaki has some great daily your tube video shows with top guests on it.
Especially needed and valuable during this recession and extortionate price hikes.

 

I'm definitely a massive dumbo with regards to financial education. It's all confusing and quite dull lol. Time to start reading this bad boy after I've finished the dad book. I'll check out his you tube sometime.

 

Finished Morgan Llywelyn's After Rome. She is one of my favourite historical fiction writers and this one is set in the years after the Romans left Britain and the Britons were faced with the invasions from Saxon's, Angles and Jutes. It is a decent read but not up to her usually brilliant standards as I felt it was a bit underdeveloped story line wise.

 

Finished Ken Bruen's Headstone. Another classic dark noir crime novel set in Galway. Loved every minute of it brilliant.

 

£4. Nice light and very easy beginners intro to 'The Big Budd' (basically no attachment / preferences)...I liked the first chapter. Chapter 2 tomorrow..Zzz timey

 

Finished Jo Nesbo's crime thriller The Phantom. Another good entry in the author's Harry Hole series with quite the twist towards the end.
