Shocking state of affairs that a club like Bolton can go under when there is literal dross 'ballers' in the Premiership earning more than it would take to save them in a couple of months.

There is no trickle down effect - the Premiership is killing everything other than the Premiership.

Didn't have to hold out, we paid more for him than required at the time.

    Ethical.

My sympathy lacks. They spend massively to promote and when it fails they go * up. Some clubs (Villa are an example) are a big enough name that some * will come in and save them but most don't have it.
You can say it's unfortunate for the fans but they demand money be spent rather than just getting by.
I also have family in Oldham, so sod Bury and Bolton

    All Lennon's fault.

They are still trying to cover the costs of bringing in Heskey.

Seriously though, * them bunch of idiots.

It’s the old story about football being a business like no other.... there is so much emotion and sentiment attached to it but it is from the people who have no control over the finances - although they do still tend to demand a ‘spend spend’ culture to try and get to the dizzy heights of the premier league.

The ‘must save our historic club’ attitude is only heard when it’s too late and a football club goes * up!
    (huns in tears outside ibrokes)

If it was just any old business there would be no sympathy and no great concern other than for the employees about to be unemployed.

A failing business is just that.. and if beyond recovery , needs to be wound down in order to limit further damage.

Football seems to think it has an undeniable right to survival under any circumstances.

Clubs like Bolton (and their fans) should think deeply about the consequences of failure when you try to go ‘high stakes’.

Greed and self importance of English football starting to haunt them.

    No sympathy from me.

Wonder if Andy Walkers revelling in this like he seems to with us when he gets a chance to put the big one in!!

Having said that I do hope he's gutted over this!!:56:

Ps-wouldnt say Bolton were a small club either and I think that's the big deal here. Certainly historically anyway.

Surely if the worst does happen they would just do what the Huns did and just pretend liquidation never happened at all

Villa go down they are * I think... Owner was on sky sports saying the money they spent was bout a years worth of sky sports TV money.. That s all fine and dandy but what happens if they get relegated they have all these players signed up on contracts and installments to pay out and suddenly your money has dropped by 30 to 50 millon

Just liquidate the company chaps , make a new one , and transfer the assets over , it's DEAD easy.

End of 2017/18 they were * after over spending. Someone came in and they spent big again but succeeded.
Probably about a £70m difference in revenue. But they have parachute payments when they drop down.
