Best starting XI going forward

Assuming everyone is fit and ready, which players do we need to start every week if we are to claw back the deficit in the league?

Had some difficulty picking mine as our squad has such strength in depth, but it's hard to look past this for me.

We really need that two up top, it worked so well for us in the second half of last season.

I know people will point to the lack of width in that team, however with the creative players in that side you would fancy us to break down most teams we come across.

A lot of people will definitely not agree with the exclusion of players like Soro, Frimpong and Forrest, but that's the beauty of discussion.

Based on who's fit right now, soro needs to be changed for Christie, and then swap rogic and soro


Once everyone is fully for, I'd be inclined to return to two wingers.

*McGregor to be inter changeable with Turnbull, will offer a more controlled midfield against tougher sides.

Going 4231 with the same mentioned team dropping one of strikers for the extra midfielder

Need to get more time in to hazard in cup games etc, Welsh needs to be the go to sub for 20-30mins a game.

Strikers should be interchanged with ajeti and klimala.

Ntcham, Christie both can be chucked for £10mill combined. Édouard if he really wants to go can leave as well, in that case bring Ajeti up the pecking order and then start looking at guys like Harper (more in a 4231 in the right if needed to link with the lone striker)

With our current squad I'd say last night's line up is our best one. When Forrest gets back we'll need to get him and Johnston back on the wings.

Would like to hope Barkas can displace Hazard long term and get show the reasons why we signed him, but that doesn't look likely at the moment.

 

Right now I'd go:

So, a 4222 or 42211 with Eddy dropping deeper to pick up the ball. In defence it becomes 442/4411
