Your missing the point with branding it Oasis type music. Oasis would not have been but for the Stone Roses and Inspiral carpets. There is much more history involved. Like social living of the times and why it evolved. Prog rock is interesting but for the time a lot of Uni kids were involved or making it. Floyd went too far off scale when they went total prog. But hindsight would tell us that it paved the way for trance music in the world of clubbing.

The Hollies, seen them live. Tony Hicks is a seriously undervalued multi instrumentalist.

All about taste. Personally love most of the bands mentioned and I'm quite varied in my music taste, too.

I do know what Sean (@Dear Hunter) is referring to though. Loving the Stone Roses for example is so common amongst my generation even when half of them couldn't name any of the songs outside of the usual (Fools Gold, Waterfall, I am the Resurrection etc).

I've liked them for a while but don't solely listen to them. Going through a Smiths stage at the minute, whereas I never used to like them. If you are in a * mood and just want to listen to songs which make you realise how * the world is then they are class.

I can understand why current generations are clinging onto older bands though. Not only is the music good but one listen through the current charts would make you want to jump aff a cliff.

By Oasis type music I mean that brand of alternative/indie rock. Just find it incredibly boring and a bit pretentious to be honest.

See I find prog rock like Jethro Tull pretentious. Each to their own.

That's true. Mind you, I feel like a lot of people are so false with it. The whole "get the flares out, aren't we the best fans in the world" brigade.

Some of it is, for sure. I've just been in a prog rock mood of late, it's by no means my favourite genre of music.

Nah I agree 100%. They are.

It's the same mob who wear bucket hats and have 'Oasis, Roses and The Smiths' in their Twitter bio.

I'll openly admit I like the music as well but I don't shove it in folks faces.

The Stone Roses have also been in my spotify playlist since 2011 long before this started #TrendSetter

My suggestion is to cull them. Forget killing foxes, set the dogs loose on anyone at a Courteeners gig with a flare.

That first album by Tull is fantastic, really dig the early Jazz/blues influence.

Interestingly enough, Tommy Iommi was in Tull in 1968 never recorded on any albums but was with them when they did their live appearance on The Rolling Stones Rock n Roll Circus. This song would be on the album This Was.

Keith Richards referred to them as Jethro Dull

Just had a mental image of a bunch of 15 year olds with bucket hats getting chased around a park by a pack of Beagles to the soundtrack of Not Nineteen Forever

I'm actually away from him for a few weeks so the wife is on call with daily photos and videos of him. She's moaning I'm not asking for pics of her. :giggle1:
