    Michael Keene of The Faceless, Fredrik Thordendal of Meshuggah and Jeff Loomis all write and play unreal Metal guitar.

    Alex Skolnick of Testament is also brilliant, with both Jazz and Metal guitar.
    Devin Townsend is still one of my favourite guitarists.

    Stevie Ray Vaughn has to be around the top.

    Also don't think anyone mentioned Wes Montgomery who is probably the king of Jazz guitar.

    Clearly, it doesn't come down to popularity, as Jimmy Page and Dave Gilmour were in the mix and the Zep and Floyd have both sold more than Queen.

    One or two odd results right enough and it could be said that you can't really appraise this through an arbitrary knock-out vote.

    Also surprised to see Jeff Beck fall by the wayside when I believe he is "the guitarists' guitarist."
