Loved him while he was with us. Very underrated player.

 

Me too, was always up for it like brown. Was not shy of rattling into a tackle as well.

Barry Robson was the type of player you could rely on, was a very good signing at the time and played a big part in us winning the league.

 

Was a great player for us. Gave 100% every game. Must have been a nightmare to play against.

Will never forget that penalty miss against Aalborg though which was my first champions league game!

Definitely one of my favourite players in the squad at the time.

Listening to Paul Hartley’s Simon Ferry interview, said 3 games in Robson’s realised he’s a first team player, and realised the wage others were on compared to what he was thinking was a great wage rise coming from a SPL Team. Chapped Lawwel’s door and got his wage rise.

“doesn’t matter if there’s more talented players, I was a harder working more essential player”

Players like Jarosik and Donati did have more talent, nowhere near him as a player.

 

PAUL HARTLEY has revealed one of his former Celtic team-mates asked for a wage increase just two days after signing.

The Cove Rangers boss - who was named League One Manager of the Month for December - explained on Open Goal that Barry Robson was left asking for more after sealing his Celtic move.

Robson joined Celtic on deadline day in January 2008 leaving Dundee United after a last-ditch agreement.

But just two days into his two-year stint at Celtic he was asking for a pay increase.


According to Hartley, Robson had found out the salary of some of his team-mates at Parkhead leading to him requesting his contract be boosted.

Hartley told Si Ferry and Paul Slane on Open Goal: "You know what Robbo was like, he was chirpy and he would give it back.




He signed for Celtic on the last day of the window and two days later he was in for a pay rise.

"He was like 'I'm going into see them, I've just found out what you're on and what he's on' and I was like alright, good luck with that."

Host Ferry added: "He wanted a pay rise because he found out other boys were getting more."

 

Aberdeen have appointed Barry Robson on a permanent basis from today and will be interesting what players he brings in after the season.

Who replaced him or who did we bring in after he was sold?

I remember thinking at the time it was mad and reading about hun players being surprised as Robson was such a good player for us.
