Love both series. I see why people didn't like the pacific as much, but after watching the Ken Burns' documentary "The War" and seeing a dramatic presentation of some of the people he interviewed, I found it to be enjoyable.

But BoB will always be the mini series I set time aside to watch every year

For those that watched it, did you know that Sobel (David Schwimmer) tried to kill himself in the late 60s and failed, dying in 1987?

Mentalist Captain Spiers went to become a Lieutenant Colonel and also served in the Korean war.

You could see in the show that he got extremely * off and probably depressed after the demotion.

He was actually promoted, it's just that he was reassigned to a training position because of his perceived shortcomings in the field.

Some pretty devastating scenes in that series, must have been quite emotional for those who were there when they watched Band of Bothers.

On a similar theme but different, I would recommend to those interested checking out 'ANZACS' which is an Australian production, made back in the early-80's about Australian soldiers in the First World War, but also covers the home front etc, also.

The production values for that time were extremely high, very good cast (including the likes of Paul Hogan & Jon Blake amongst others) & while some individual scenes' dialogue may seem a bit corny on the ear to listen to, overall the story is very strong. If you enjoyed BoB, this is worth a look also. :50:

    The best TV/Movie ever created.

You can't class it as either so it always fails to get a mention in lists :smiley-laughing002:

It's 9.6 on IMDb, I've never seen anything as high as that before. BB, GoT & The Wire were 9.4 and that's the highest I've seen.

I have to watch this at least once a year, it has a bit of everything, great action scenes, historically accurate and some terrific acting!
