Does anybody function and get through life and still go to work on painkillers for a bad back? I'm not talking about a slight strain i mean every single day and night? Iv had 3 ops im on the waiting list for another but they have said its not an emergency so just take pain relief,iv got gabapenton but refuse to take them is their anything you can take and still function with?

I ask have back trouble but not the level you seem to have.
But I do need to cope day to day with other internal pain issues. Problem being with pain relief is.......only ones that work are far too addictive.
So I dont take much of anything but when I do take meds I try use both cocodamol, ibuprofen with codeine also, and a cool pack.
(Might be better with a heat pack if its your back).

Sadly though.......my oncologist has told me for almost 15 years now that it will be a pain I always need to live with and do what I can.
It is such a * thing living with essentially untreatable pain

Might sound daft but what about weed and related oils?
Natural muscle relaxant and what not.
    Massage pads?

It really is pish when the only thing doctors would give you....they don't want to purely coz they can so addictive.
I mind after a surgery and had post surgical pain I got codeine...no cocodamols. Just a bottle of codeine. Next time was tramadol.
Didnt take the pain away but made not gove a *.
    Times have changed a bit

CBD was a game changer for my dad mate. The vape wasn’t good but the CBD deep heat stuff was instant relief.

Done the same thing with Tendonitis for me.
