Ofc! If I said that I prefer him to Juranovic it would be worse ;-)

Bet me to it, was just about to say that. If he keeps up his form or hopefully improves he seems ideal to take over from Cal

The pre-season camp in Austria and the Czech Republic is over as the Hoops returned to Glasgow on Thursday morning with three positive performances and some vital training into their legs.

With just over two weeks to go until the league campaign begins at home to Aberdeen on flag day, the summer training and games are all important in ensuring the group are in tip-top condition come game one.

Anthony Ralston got his first minutes of the season in the 4-2 win against Banik Ostrava on Wednesday night and is set to get more game-time when the Bhoys welcome Blackburn Rovers on Saturday for the first game at Paradise in season 2022/23.

With a settled group in the door for the start of the training camp there's lots of positivity in the group, and the 23-year-old Scotland internationalist is excited to head for the season ahead.

He said: “We’ve come into pre-season and hit it off right away in terms of both training and the games.

“We’ve had a good few challenges already and all the boys want to kick on.

'Fans should definitely be excited, we all are excited ourselves to get going.'

“We had a great season last year and we’re looking for the same again. It’s behind us now and we’re ready to start a new chapter and hopefully do the same again.

“We don’t have Champions League qualifiers, so it’s been a good chance to get more training sessions and focus on the start of the league campaign.

“We’ve all had a few games now and with more to come we’re all in a good place and feeling fit.”

The return of UEFA Champions League group-stage football has certainly whetted the appetite of fans and players alike, with some of Europe's biggest teams and best players set to head to Celtic Park once again.

Ralston has had experience playing in Europe’s elite competition back in 2017 and he can’t wait to feel the noise at Paradise on those special nights.

It’s a far cry from 12 months ago when hecame into pre-season with a point to prove, having only made one appearance for the first-team in 2020/21, and he now wants to make the most of every opportunity that comes his way.

“I never gave up on what I wanted because I’ve always wanted to play here and I’ve been a Celtic fan all my life,” he added.

“I just kept working hard, and there was never a point when I stopped. There’s things that happened in my life like having my daughter that pushed me on and gave me the motivation to go into training every day to take my opportunity.

'I’m delighted with how things have gone and I’m enjoying my football, but my main aim is to keep providing for the team and give my all.'

“I’ve worked really hard and I will continue to work hard because I’m only young and I’ve got a lot to learn and a long way to go in my career.

“We’re all looking forward to the Champions League. It’s where you want to play your football at the highest level.

“It was a long time ago now that I played in it, so I’ve moved on both with my football and as a person, so I’m looking forward to it coming back around and getting more experiences because they are great memories.”

He was captain on Wednesday when McGregor and Hart went off. So Ange perhaps thinks he's both :39:.

With Rogic and Bitton gone, other than Hart there aren't too many others I can think of who are candidates if McGregor isn't playing.

I'd have him ahead of Juranovic the now at RB.

Shows how much opinions have changed on him since early last season. Hard work and determination is more sought after sometimes than talent.

His attacking stats are outstanding, we could see it again when he set up Giakomakis, Jura as good as he is doesn't do this enough. I don't think TR would have lost his man for the first goal against Banik that Jura did, possibly a bit of rustyness from him though

He's turned into a monster. Aye, he's not technically the 'best' in his position, but you know what, some of the best players for us over the years haven't been the most "technically" gifted but by * they put every ounce they have on the fitba pitch (see guys like Robson and Hartley etc) and I for one would have a guy running at 100% passion and 40% skill over somecunt with 80% skill and 30% passion (not that I'm putting JJ in that bracket btw)
