    New contract?

Could leave in the summer, he's certainly done enough already to earn one..

KRIS COMMONS reckons Celtic's Anthony Ralston is the BEST right-back in the country on current form.

Reborn Hoops defender Ralston has silenced his critics by enjoying an outstanding start to the campaign.

The 22-year-old made just one start last term but has become a key player under new boss Ange Postecoglou, although he'll face fresh competition following the £2.5million capture of Croatia international Josip Juranovic.

Ralston's meteoric resurgence could give him an outside chance of a first Scotland call-up when Steve Clarke names his squad for next month's World Cup qualifiers.

And ex-Bhoys favourite Commons believes the youngster deserves international recognition

Writing in his Daily Mail column, Commons said: "Tom Rogic and Anthony Ralston look like two new signings. Ralston, in particular, is a great example of the way a coach can develop a player and help them improve.

"The vast majority of Celtic fans probably wouldn't have wanted him anywhere near the first team this season because, quite simply, they didn't think he was good enough.

"But his performances over the past month have definitely silenced a lot of critics. It takes a lot of courage and mental strength to fight your way back like Ralston has.

Is there a better Scottish RB on the go the now?
    Deserves a new improved deal.
Right now, he is the only guy I can see getting stuck into Hun *, Browney style.

Wonder if he'll get into the Scotland squad tomorrow?

Will be interesting to see if he gets one soon. With the likes of Patterson getting interest from Everton shows how a bit of exposure at the right age can make all the difference to what a player is valued at.

If he does play well over the next 2 games and make the Scotland squad only having him on a one year option is possibly going to look very short sighted from Celtic if they don't sort that soon.

His deal was extended due to us having no other options, I don't blame Celtic for only giving him 1 year but I think he will jump at getting a new deal.
If he doesn't get picked for Scotland, given our other options being O'Donnell and Patterson then I think Clarke has to explain why.

Doubt he gets in the squad since Gemmill has said Patterson will be with the senior squad.

I’m glad he’s not in the squad. Clarke will bore the dynamism out of him.

No question he deserves an extension beyond the summer.

Not called up which is mental based on current form, but to be honest the less of our players away on international duty the better. More chance to recover from a hectic and hard few weeks of high intensity football and also less chance of getting injured.

It's not surprising given its Steve Clarke and he makes done strange picks. On form he absolutely deserves a call up, especially given O'Donnell and Patterson are the options that were picked.

I'd argue the same for Welsh but he's away with the u21s

    True but unsurprising really.

From a selfish standpoint I'm glad because it means he'll get a right good rest now.

I feel bad for the kid, but he's got an extra week with Ange which is gonna make his balls feel even bigger and raring to go to prove a point.

It's also so obvious Ralston wasn't picked because without Patterson there would've been no Rangers players in the squad.
