Amido Baldé, 25-year-old striker, has had dramatic moments last Monday. The former Portuguese U-20 international, who represents Tondela on loan from Marítimo, felt dizzy and almost fainted as he climbed the stairs.

Faced with these symptoms, which were joined to others such as very recurrent cough, chest pain and throat burning, which had been dragging since the beginning of the season, Amido decided to go to CUF Viseu for medical examinations.

At the hospital he underwent a CT scan and blood tests, which detected an embolism: basically a blood clot that blocks the circulation of blood to the lungs.

Amido Baldé was no longer allowed to leave the CUF, and immediately followed by ambulance to the Hospital San Teotónio, where he was hospitalized urgently: for four days, the player was recovered, medicated and unable to make any effort.

The doctor who attended him, moreover, made it very clear that he was at risk of life, considering that it was a danger to a person with an embolism playing football.

Amido Baldé was discharged last Thursday.

He traveled to Lisbon, to the family home, where he is medicated and forbidden to make any effort. The next day 18 returns to the Hospital San Teotónio for new exams.

The player will be forced to stop for six months, so he no longer plays this season. Only after half a year of rest can you see if you can play football again.

The complaints of Amido Baldé, finally, were already dragged from the beginning of the season, when the player left Angola and returned to Portugal to represent the Maritime.

Despite this, the embolism was not detected in any examination by the medical teams of Marítimo, first, and of Tondela, since last January.

The Tondela issued a statement clarifying the clinical situation of Amido Baldé, an advanced loaner for the Marítimo who was at risk of life due to apulmonary embolism.

The medical department of the club, represented by Dr. Eduardo Mendes, signs the statement and explains that when Baldé arrived in Tondela he had a history of pneumonia in September 2016, still in the service of the islanders.

"At the time of his enrollment on CD Tondela, he underwent medical examinations and complementary diagnostic tests at the Hospital CUF Viseu (HCV) and remained fit for physical activity, continuing the sporting performance granted at the SAD Marítimo", read.

The note explains that Amido Baldé felt ill at home, on March 21, "taking the initiative to go to the HCV, where he was observed in the Permanent Assistance. He performed a thoracic computerized tomography (CT) and analysis and was immediately transferred to the Tondela-Viseu Hospital Center (CHTV) with diagnosis of bilateral pulmonary thromboembolism.

After this he was hospitalized and was accompanied by the doctors of the hospital and by a head of the Medical Department of Tondela.

"The athlete is scheduled to be followed at the CHTV outpatient clinic with an indication to perform several complementary diagnostic tests, where he will also be duly accompanied by the Medical Department of CD Tondela, Futebol, SDUQ", concludes the statement.

In the service of the Tondela, Amido Baldé has made only two games since arriving in January.
