All time XI football draft

Setting up a new competition, it's a football draft. The aim is to have entrants taking turns to pick a player, until they have 11 players to make the best team possible. If people are interested, I'll run a few of these, each with different criteria. However, as this will be the first one, it'll be an open draft where you can pick any player from history.

Once all the teams are picked, you put your formation up on Sharemytactics.com and then paste your team here.

The other entrants then vote on who has the best team, best attack, best midfield and best defence.

Once I have all the entrants, I'll randomise the list so we have a drafting order.

Edit: If you are entering, try and check the thread as much as possible so you can make your pick and the others aren't kept waiting. I'll send PM'S to you when it's your turn if we've waited a while though.

For anyone who hasn't done this before, when it's your turn, you just post the player you want in the thread, no need to PM me. There will be a list with all the teams, kept up to date so that you can see which players are still available.

Minty, would you be open to doing a snake draft? One way to make things fairer and negate the big advantage of the players with the first few picks is to have the draft go from top to bottom and then bottom to top: if there were 12 players for example you'd have picks 1-12 in order but the twelfth player would then also get the 13th pick. Then player 11 picks, then 10, etc, back up to the top and on it goes.

 

That's how I was planning on running it mate. Was going to explain it when we start.

Also, have you thought of perhaps having a head-to-head knock-out tournament where the teams get drawn in a bracket and we all debate and vote on which one would win in a theoretical match between the two? If we can get at least 16 players you could have a round of 16, quarters, semis and a final.
