That would maybe explain why we've been hesitant with the money if we we're thinking of getting another LB in but I just can't see us buying two more for that position tbh. I agree with @JC Anton that Connell should be tried there. I'm sure it's been said on here that he played there for Bolton(?) and it gets him much needed first team football.

 

Had a feeling he'd play well..

Need to be more aggressive with this now if we're serious about him..

You sense he's an undercover one who's gonna burst on the scene for wherever he goes this season..

 

whats the whole red bull thing, should just offer £1m and a loan of connell or henderson, 20% sell on.

If the rumoured asking price of 1/25th of what we sold a LB for last year is true and we believe he has the ability to be a LB/LWB for us then it's inexcusable that we would have 3 failed bids for the guy.

Our approach of turning every transfer into a war of attrition is so tedious man.

Yes you might on occasion haggle down the price by a few hundred grand but on others you'll either A. Miss out on the player with needless dicking about eg. McGinn or B. Cost the team valuable time on getting the player up to speed and familiar with our style to play for us.

We're 7 weeks into the most important season in living memory, a decade in the making, history beckoning....get a * move on and bring in a LB.

 

Just reading online it seems charlton are prepared to lose him for nothing next year rather than a nominal fee now simply because they think he will have quite a bearing on where they finish and chances of promotion, may rest with him forcing through the move himself.

 

Aye it's the most glaring part of our squad that's needing sorted..

Pay the money for the 1 or 2 boy's you want and get them in ASAP..

I'll be annoyed if we miss out here. He looks like he can make an impact now, has unreal potential and is relatively cheap..

 

Aye, Forrest and Ely at LWB isn't the long-term answer if we're going 3-5-2 at times.

We need someone who is switched on defensively and has an engine to get up and down the line like Frimpong.

If we've earmarked Doughty as a possibility for it and know the asking the price then meet it or move on.We can't afford to waste any more time.

The next 6/7 weeks for the club are huge. Realistically a LB should've been in long ago but we are where we are now, if it costs us an extra £200k to get him in now than it would at the end of September then pay the money and give us the best chance to build up some momentum.
