Got to be pleased with this, and I like this type of signing.

Did well at a European club who play at a similar level to us, has good European and international experience and was probably out of our price range and moved to a mid/lower-table English club, but is still at an age where he potentially has loads to offer.

Similar to Elyounoussi, really. Good attacking players who have been kind of chewed up and spat out by English football. Moi moved for £16m and was reportedly available for £9m last year, while Ajeti has gone from £8m to £5m. If both of those players are fit and find the form they had at Basel, they will be valuable assets for us.

Worth keeping an eye on players who move to England from Swiss, Belgian, Greek etc clubs and it doesn't quite work out. Instead of sticking with them, giving them games and time to adapt these clubs tend to just get rid and buy someone else, so there is plenty of potential for us to pick up good players at decent prices.

Jahanbakhsh from Brighton could be another example. They've bombed him recently but he was a very good player in the Dutch League.

    Yep agreed.

It is actually a really good strategy for us. The bonus also being they have had their spell in England and know that the grass isn't always greener.

Jahanbaksh a good example too...we need a winger.

The ridiculous amount of money available in England has caused this benefit for us. There's a lot of good players who are just easily discarded now.

Exactly what we need, Leigh will no doubt pick up a few injuries through the season so need quality back up and someone that can challenge him.

Looking forward to seing Ajeti pulling on the hoops. Think he will thrive in an attacking minded team like ours.

I think he will do more than challenge.

Griffiths made a good impact today but hes been towing a fine line.

Hopefully Klimala and this guy can push him on.

    No chance.

Bayo needs punted, and that will leave us with 4 strikers. Ideal.

Lennons probably not wanting another situation like last season when Lewis Morgan had to play upfront

I don't disagree about Bayo, but klimala needs game time and with Ajeti and leigh as back up i don't see it happening, i would say loan out to a killie a hibs or a motherwell it done ajer the world of good

You could look at It two ways, as if these teams in England didn’t have so much money available they would probably not stockpile players the way they do.

They probably would not be interested in paying £8m for a player like Ajeti, meaning we would have a better chance of getting them straight from Basel.

I feel it is the case across the board with young talent who would have previously managed to get for our first team. Instead they go there first then we have the struggle of actually signing them following loans because of inflated wages on long term deals.

But given how things are it is a situation we can take advantage of.

Lennon admits he expects Celtic to add to their squad before they begin the defence of their Premiership title against Hamilton Accies on Sunday but could not confirm the capture of Ajeti.

“I’m not aware of that,” said the Celtic manager after his team’s 3-1 friendly win over Hibs at Parkhead on Monday afternoon.
“I was talking to [head of football operations] Nick [Hammond] and [chief executive] Peter [Lawwell] on Monday and hopefully we will have some sort of resolution this week.”
