I will say as an American who loves Celtic but in the summer settles for MLS this guy is a talent! MLS doesnt get much love (Obviously) but he has done great things and even a great job for Honduras! Trust Izzy by saying he is quality!

 

Former Celtic defender Emilio Izaguirre has revealed he has spoken to the club about Honduras teammate Alberth Elis.

The winger was reportedly a target for the Hoops last year after impressing in the MLS with Houston Dynamo. And Izaguirre - who spent eight years as a Celtic player during two separate spells - says he has been in touch with his former employers about Elis.

Elis, 24, recently claimed he had pestered Izaguirre to speak to Celts on his behalf as he had been desperate for a move to Europe to compete for trophies. And his persistence apparently paid off when the left-back brought his name forward.

The playmaker has played 87 matches in all competitions for Dynamo, scoring an impressive 33 goals in the process.

Izaguirre has also been full of praise for Elis, highlighting his strength and pace as his main attributes. "Alberth is a very good friend of mine and I spoke with him about Celtic," the defender told Herald and Times Sport. "He's a very good, fast player. He's very fast and strong and he's good in the air. He's played a lot of football and is good on the ball.

"A lot of players in Honduras would like to play for Celtic because it's a big opportunity to play in Europe and play for trophies. Celtic is a big club, the biggest in Scotland."

Motagua ace Izaguirre also claimed his cousin Alejandro Reyes, who plays for Honduran rivals Olimpia, has also been in touch asking about a potential recommendation to the Glasgow giants.

If the Ajeti deal is dead we should be 100% after this guy over Toney. Can play ST and winger equally good and wouldn't cost anywhere near the price.

 

Out of the players we have been linked with, I would Like to get Elis.

His stats of 1 in 3 for goals playing on the right wing over a few seasons shows consistency and his highlights show a combination of some classy finishing and good aggressive attacking play. I think he would fit in well to our team and be able to offer an option from the wings or in a two upfront depending on formation.

Given his contract situation he wouldn’t cost an awful lot either. It is the type of deal we should be all over.
