Just awful for the lad. This season just has not gone his way at all to put it mildly.

Gutted for the lad, and it’s a shame for Motherwell as well. Could loan them Frame. He needs the game time.

Seriously, that's awful news. Worst luck. He only got to play 6 games for Fleetwood in the first half of the season as he had a couple of lengthy injuries down there as well. Gets recalled, back out on loand to Motherwell, plays 1 game and is out again. Really got to feel sorry for the lad. Awful news. Even if he stays there, at most he won't be back long before the Split at best. What a horrible season for the guy.

Our academy sure know how to produce injury prone players.

    Ouch. Tough break.

That'll be the final nail in his career here, I'd think.

Shame to end it this way.

Celtic will listen to offers for left-back Adam Montgomery this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Montgomery spent the first half of this season on loan at English League One side Fleetwood Town before joining Motherwell in January

The 21-year-old doesn’t have a long-term future with the Hoops and is not part of Brendan Rodgers’s plans moving forward.

The Glasgow club are now looking to cash in on the Scotsman before his contract at Celtic Park expires in June 2025

It’s been an incredibly disappointing season for Montgomery with both Fleetwood and Motherwell.

The defender only featured six times for the English League One club before returning north of the border in January.

Montgomery played just once for Motherwell before picking up a serious hamstring injury that saw him return to Celtic to continue his rehabilitation.

It now looks increasingly likely he will be leaving the Hoops permanently this summer after failing to make an impression in Glasgow.

Since coming through the club’s academy, Montgomery has only made 20 senior appearances at Celtic Park, most of which came under former boss Ange Postecoglou back in the 2021/22 campaign.

The left-back has since spent time out on loan at fellow Scottish Premiership sides Aberdeen and St Johnstone, but neither spell aided his first-team aspirations at Parkhead.

Rodgers appears to have made his made up on Montgomery and will look to move him on once the transfer window reopens

That could potentially provide the Hoops boss with some more cash for new recruits and hand the Scotsman a fresh start elsewhere

Hopefully he finds a good landing spot this summer and can stay injury free next season so he can kick start his career.

Watched him play against Northampton for Fleetwood earlier in the season. Played left back and was hopeless at defending but was beating guys for fun when he was attacking. 100% not a left back more of a winger. fingers crossed he gets a decent move and stays injury free

Actually produced an important moment during Ange's reign with his clever cut-back for Jota at Pittodrie late on. Ange's first away win in the league and at a time when pressure was mounting.

Did well during that wee period and wish him well when he inevitably goes.

Was he not playing wing his first few preseason games for us too. Sure he looked pretty exciting in those games, even if the opposition wasn't the best.

Can't quite remember at what point he got moved further back.

Adam Montgomery has extended his stay at Celtic until June 2027. After initially breaking into the senior side in 2021, he has continued to progress during spells with the first-team and also out on loan.

The 21-year-old has made 20 first-team appearances for the Hoops, and has also gained valuable experienced whilst on temporary spells with a number of clubs, including St Johnstone and Aberdeen.

Probably done to help both lads out. Both had bad luck with injuries over last year so chances of getting a decent move this summer would be unlikely. Gives them a bit of security and they will no doubt be sent out on season long loans before moving on next summer

Aye agree with this, especially in montgomery's case where he's had an unfortunate injury.

In Montgomery’s case I think there’s enough interest around him an extra year on the contract is to give more negotiating power. Gives more security for Montgomery to make sense for him to sign up, and there’s always the slight hope maybe another loan and he’ll make it. Worked for Tony Ralston, good example for him for it to make sense.

I like him and he done a turn Ange’s first season when we barely had a team, and well done to the bhoy for that but he doesn’t have a future here.
