Adam Montgomery

Be interesting to see how he does and where he plays. He hasn’t particularly impressed either as a left back or winger so far.

He had to go out on loan to be playing and see if he can improve as at the moment he is well of it.

 

Great move for him.

 

Send him on loan yes… but Kilmarnock ? Please no!

I know it did Ajer good but I’d hate to think Celtic did anything that might help that club and it’s plastic pitch back into the top flight. I’d prefer to see them in league 1.

Aberdeen are closing in on the signing of Celtic youngster Adam Montgomery.

The Dons are set to sign the left-sided player on loan for the rest of the season.

Stephen Glass hijacked a late move for Montgomery who looked set to be heading for England.

Celtic had previously agreed a deal with Kilmarnock but the Championship side had to free up budget first.

Celtic rate the 19-year-old highly.

Ange Postecoglou has only allowed a loan spell for him to go out and get regular first-team games.

Montgomery has been rewarded with a new deal and is seen as a future Celtic regular.




He was involved in several of Postecoglou’s squad in Europe and domestically at the start of the season.




Montgomery can operate at left-back or in left midfield and it gives Aberdeen more options and would allow them to release Jonny Hayes further up the park.

Dons boss Glass is still working on other options.

Lot of pressure at us. Maybe he'll go away up there with less pressure and develop..

A good loan there for 6 month's and then maybe again next year and he may come good eventually..

 

I really liked him in his first 5 or so appearances. Thought he was superb against AZ. Definitely didn't look great afterwards though.

He needs to work out what his position is, for me he's a left back all day long.

 

Would be an excellent move and just what Montgomery needs to push on. The lad is only 19 still let us not forget and he certainly showed potential in some of his earlier appearances. There are loans IMHO where I just don't ever see a player making it at Celtic. But this is one I really like as I think he has a chance at Celtic IMHO. Could even see if he does well in the next few months that his loan gets extended in the summer to cover next season.

 

Really surprised at that. Don’t think he’s good enough for them tbh but hope he proves me wrong.

 

My gran is good enough for that Aberdeen side, she died in 1988.

The Club this evening confirms the loan signing of Scotland U21 International Adam Montgomery.



The left sided player who was recently rewarded with a new deal at Celtic until 2025, joins the Dons for the remainder of the season.

Adam has made 18 appearances for the Parkhead side this season, featuring in a Champions League Qualifier.

Manager Stephen Glass believes the 19-year-old will make the squad more robust as he can impact the team in a number of ways. He said:

“We’re pleased Adam has opted to join us at Pittodrie for the rest of the season.

“His arrival will provide some added flexibility to the squad as he can play in a number of positions.

“He is a player with great potential and someone who we feel will add value to the squad for the second half of the campaign.

“The Club has previously enjoyed success with the loan of Ryan Christie from Celtic and we’re confident this move will be as successful.”

Adam will go straight into the squad for tomorrow’s match against Ross County.

 

Good move for Montgomery and for us as it gives a player who I think has a chance to make it at Celtic playing time at a good level.

 

Not good enough for us tbh not seen anything about him to think wow he’s going to be a nailed on starter.
