Adam Montgomery

Very impressed with the young fella over his last 3 or 4 appearances. Really confident and great awareness and positioning, seems to know when to go and when to stay at the right times. Has done enough I feel for us to be at least asking the question now if he should be our LB starter as things stand.

 

I agree. I think managers and teammates like Taylor because he's a team player. Always available for a pass and never hides, always willing to make the pass (partly because of his own limitations), always gives his all and gets up and down the park a lot and even when a player does get past him he always tries to chase him down and not let them get away. He obviously lacks a trick and pace over short distances to get away from players but depending on how the team's set up that's not always needed in a FB although it's good to watch. I think a winger would like playing with Taylor because he knows he'll get service.
Having said all that, Montgomery looks like he has bags of potential and if he can do all the things I've said about Taylor and go past people the way he did yesterday he could be the complete FB and he'll quickly become our first choice LB.

 

Would like to see him at LB for a run of games.

All he has to do is show more than Taylor, which is a low bar, and the position should be his.

 

Has so many attributes that Taylor doesn't..

He's much better in my opinion already and with a lot more potential..

One attribute is more than what Greg Taylor has.

I know this is a young guy breaking into the first team, but I’ve been well impressed by him since early pre-season, and he’s only getting better with experience.

Even though he looks a tad slender, he seems robust enough, never seen him shirk out of a tackle yet or go down like a sack a totties at the slightest gust of wind.

See, thats it, against the dross sides, not have much defending to do anyway, and even if we loose the ball now and again, they wont hurt us.

 

I also think Ange is handling his introduction well.

Gave him European experience on the drip feed, so if he was needed at a crucial time the occasion wouldn’t overwhelm him, and it didn’t against AZ. Monty was an integral part of our qualification.

Really like what I’m seeing from Monty and I think Ange is making sure that he is introduced so he doesn’t lose confidence or get tired out by a full introduction.

After another full preseason, think we could see him develop physically and we’ll soon have another KT at LB. I know that’s a lot to put on his shoulders, but I can see him reaching the highest level in time.

 

Was decent..

Excellent technically and really comfortable..

One thing I cannot go though, backing and pulling out of tackles. Done it numerous time's tonight and was our worst offender for it..

 

He offers nothing.

 

Still has ways to go, but I'd have him ahead of Taylor at LB, might get more shots at LW if Jota moves to the right.
