All this Matthews v Lustig debate is quite good to read but can't any of them possibly play left back?......surely they'd be better than the 'out of position again Emilio' that we have to witness week in and week out....just a thought.

 

If lustig is back in time for the 2nd leg he has too start regardless how well he played , he just played really good when going forward but we can't expect that again * more than likely go back down his to his usual 5 or 6 out of ten performance in the next couple of games. If he was able to play that well all the time as an attacking full back he would not be playing for us.

 

Did Inters first goal not come from a slack pass back from Mathews to Denayer?

Because i am sure the first StJohnstone goal last week also came from a slack pass back from Mathews to Denayer?

 

Put Matthews left back if, and that's a big if Lustig is fit.

 

Other way round. Denayer with a poor ball to Matthews.

Matthews was superb at right back in the last game at the san siro. We just need somebody more defensive minded at left back next week. Izzy is a good attacking full back but would like to give smbdy else a chance against hamilton just have a look at. Wakaso might be a shout or he might be just as bad. Would love lustig in there but doubt he will be fit.

 

Matthews is a realy good modern day fullback and was ace against Inter, simples.

 

Excellent again when he came on today.

 

Needs a new contract sorted asap

 

the only reason he played well there is because barca rarely ran down thewings to cross as they had no height, also his crossing suffered shown when he could have set up samaras for a second goal.

 

Agreed out of contract in the summer.
