Not sold on this tbh. And he will be miles away fitness wise.

Just don't think he is the type of midfielder we need. But let's see.

Mooy isn't a defensive minded DM though. It's just kind of like for like adding in him into the 6. Dont really get it.

I'd rather keep mcgregor six and play one of the other two than stunt their growth as players for the sake of Mooy.

Obviously there's the obvious benefits of ange knowing him and at one point (and I mean like 6 years ago) he was a good player.

Not seen him since his Huddersfield days. Big issue for me in Europe is the lack of someone to screen the defence, just concerned we aren't going to address that.

That’s a decent point in terms of his body not having taken a beating the last few seasons. It’s one you could look at two ways. It might be a negative the fact he hasn’t played a lot, but you could view it the opposite way as you say. Which may well benefit in the long run.

Probably not mate, nothings ever good enough, * securing CCV and Jota is something I didn’t think would be possible.

Don't get this signing ,unless ange feels we need more experienced players for cl , if this is even happening.

Pretty much all of us agreed going into this window we needed a defensive minded midfielder of sufficient quality.

That hasn't changed. I agree with Keano in that if this was alongside another player in the mould of Souza than aye why not for no fee and a short term deal.

    Let's see if it is.

We’ll have a very good idea of exactly where he is at fitness wise, so just got to trust the staff on that side of things.

If we were going to Ibrox next weekend amid an injury crisis and you had the choice of Mooy, Ideguchi or McCarthy to play; which one would you choose? For me, it’s Mooy every single day of the week.

So he significantly adds to our squad depth in an area that’s not a huge priority financially, unlike DM (where we’ll bring someone in).

I've always wanted to see McGregor regularly play in the 8 role, so if Mooy cones in, I think that'll be the plan from Ange.

Worth mentioning, I don't want Mooy, I'd much, much rather we get a proper CDM in, just trying to see it from an outside perspective.

Also means Turnbull receives less chances, good news imo :fear:

mate that’s where I’m at. Mooy isn’t really getting my plums pumping, but if we get a quality DM in and another CB I would be happy with the window. Throw in another bit of quality that can play across the front 3 and we are absolutely laughing.

So are you saying it's virtually a non existent scenario for a player over 30 who has had little game time over the last 2 years to get crocked trying to get used to Ange's playing tempo? And if we have all those players that can so ably play in his stead anyway that it's not a concern for you why waste wages on him?

    A bit confused here mate

You ask about the ibrox scenario where we have a choice between McCarthy, Guchi and Mooy which i’m assuming is for the CDM position? But your point about that position not being a financial priority unlike the CDM position throws me off.

    Sorry mate, probably wasn’t clear.

To be clear, I believe 100% that we will also sign a defensive midfielder. I have no concerns about that.

My point was more simply that Mooy is a big step up on Guchi and McCarthy. I’d rather see him on the pitch than those guys and considering we’ve not replaced Rogic or Bitton (or Soro), then from a purely numerical point of view we’re a couple of players light. I’d rather see Mooy step in if we’re short of McGregor, Hatate, O’Reilly or Turnbull than Guchi or McCarthy. If/when we bring in a DM, that will push Mooy a step further down the pecking order and that’s fine, but we need that quality depth that he provides in my opinion.

I'd rather Mooy but that point only really matters if we sign a DM alongside as if not as I've already said, I'd be seriously disappointed.

This is a good squad addition. I believe that to be true. But if its in place of another midfielder coming in I'm not sold.

Hope you're right that we do get the defensive mid.

Decent addition I’d say. Still need a defensive mid though as others have said.

Not against it but if we're signing him instead of the defensive midfielder that we need then that is a different story - As an addition to the squad fine but not at the expense of a defensive midfielder

Surely we won’t be signing both Mooy and one of Vera/Michut? That would make the Mooy signing even more pointless.

Mccarthy pretty much non existent anyway. And I don't hold out much hope for Ideguchi.
