A POTENTIAL AUSSIE REUNION AT CELTIC

Celtic’s new boss Ange Postecoglou is keen for the club to pursue a deal for Aaron Mooy.

Mooy, 30, is currently playing in China for Shanghai SIPG and Postecoglou has asked Celtic’s recruitment team to prioritise him as a midfield target this summer.

Celtic have also been looking into a deal for Everton’s James McCarthy but that could be put on the back burner while the situation of Australian Mooy’s situation is explored.

I was gonna say that I literally do not remember his time in England. Same bracket as Duffy. I had no idea who the * he was at Brighton.

He scored some really good goals in his time in England, haven't seen him since he left there but he was a stand out player in that Brighton and more so that Huddersfield team.

Isn't he basically a Rogic though?
At any rate not a player we should be spending our time on, other positions should be the focus right now!

Thought he was extremely tidy at Huddersfield, didnt watch him at Brighton.

Feel like a permanent deal would be near impossible tho, would he not need to take something like a 90k wage drop, perhaps more? And a straight loan is no good either.

He does have a scottish wife iirc, and a loan to buy deal could potentially work.

Not really excited by this. He was okay in his first year at Huddersfield, but then pretty poor afterwards and never broke in the Brighton team. He's not really defensively sound enough to be sitting midfielder but he's not exciting enough to be a number ten.
I think I'd rather play Ntcham

This signing would make a lot of sense if you really think about it.

Our new manager is Australian and so is Mooy.

Mooy is playing in China and our manager was in Japan, so that’s basically the same thing.

Our manager is Ange and that’s basically Aaron if you say it in a thick New South Wales accent.

    Aye it’s definitely happening.

He is nothing like Rogic at all really. Very direct, big engine (or at least did, no idea these days), decent tackler, and I never recall him being injured. Much more industrious.

I haven't seen him play since he went to China. If he is still at the level he was at in England then he would be a solid signing, but that is a big if.

Would take him but he'd need to take an almighty wage cut.

He was Huddersfields player of the season getting them up and was in the running for Championship player of the year. Huddersfield broke their transfer record to make the loan permanent from Man City.

Was again their player of the season during their relegation, before moving to Brighton.

Was always considered one of the best players in the bottom half sides of the prem. Was always highly rated through the rating websites despite his teams being *.

China came big for him because Australian players are classified Asian players within their league quota restrictions.

Nothing like Rogic. He's a high work, rate box to box midfielder with plenty of end product.

Would dominate most of the sides in Scotland tbh.
