Said my first word at 1. Kicked off the stabilisers at 4. United mad by 7. Bored at 11. First black-eye and girlfriend at 14. Left school at 16. Broke my arm. Broke the bank. 18, I worked nights in the castle. But then i stopped pulling pints. And started pushing myself. I upped my game. Made a leap. I learned to think on my feet. And off them. I put my life in the hands of others. And held their lives in mine. I left home. I wrote home. I found a new home. I did things i never dreamed I would. And overcame things I never thought I could. The elements. The distance. The fears. The doubts. And all seven continents. Sure. I was born in Carlisle. But I was made in the Royal Navy.

This thread has been playing on my mind the last day or two, so got the old granny dug up. She was buried holding a 4 leaf clover and a bit of shortbread in her mouth so I'm defo half scottish and Irish. Somebody must have tattooed the swastika on her forehead after she passed. * *'s

Aye Dave Boy was a prod but only by birth. His whole friends circle was catholic and considered himself Irish when boxing. Owned the local pub in Carnlough.

I've been doing the whole DNA thing for a few years now, you only take 50% of each parents DNA and it is a lottery of what strands are passed on, with ancestry they update their theory every year, 3 years ago they had Welsh Irish and Scots in one group with England grouped as north west Europe, last year Scots and Irish grouped together and Welsh English grouped with north west Europe, this year's update has Scots and Irish seperate with Welsh being seperate and England still grouped with north west Europe, my dad is 51 % Scots 49% Irish, his mother was half Irish half Scots with his maternal grandfather from Sligo, his father was also the same but his paternal grandfathers routes are protestant Irish from Antrim.

All Irish descent. I've checked my name origins online and it was Fermanagh but I'm sure i was told our origins were Sligo or Donegal when my aunt checked it more but could be wrong..

I'm pretty sure I'm adopted, always had an affinity with the hoi polloi.
must be the royal blood flowing through my veins, but I'm pretty sure you peasants would have picked that up

Scottish, with origins in Antrim on my father's side and Cork and Spain on my mother's. Brought up to be a Celt. Love Celtic, Scotland, if Scotland aren't playing then we support Ireland, and even Wales. Long as folk are Celtic supporters doesn't matter where they're from but HH

I've been playing with Scottish Gaelic just for fun. Anyway, I stumbled on this video and found it fascinating.
