Hi, with the 50th Anniversary of the Lisbon Lions victory looming in the next year or two, I am wanting to make a documentary not only about this amazing event and re-tell the story for the new generation of fans but also to find out why Celtic fans are SO passionate about not only the club, but that game in Lisbon. I should state here I am the son of a Lisbon Lion and whilst I am a Celtic fan at heart, I have never understood the passion that you lovely people have for that game or in fact the team. I have been with my dad when fans have met him and the reaction has been amazing even though we are almost 50 years after the fact! So my documentary would have two elements to it, one about that game, talking to obviously the Remaining Lisbon Lions and two, talking to the fans themselves about why it is so important to them. I want to get a broad fan base from the famous to the everyday supporter so I would be asking you to tell me your YOUR Celtic story!

So long story short....is this something you would be interested in seeing?

    thanks
    :bbpd:

This sounds like a great idea, and something I'm sure we'd all love to see happen.

The memories of the Lions themselves, coupled with the memories of those old enough to remember, and those who have been brought up with the history of the greatest moment in our history. Sounds like a fantastic thing to see.

P.S try and keep this serious lads.

I have a question for lisboncub.
Ask yer da who does he think would have been left out of the European Cup Final 1967 if the late Great Joe McBride hadn't been injured before Christmas that season considering he was celtic's top scorer for that season with 35 goals before his injury that ruled him out for rest of season.
Also, would it have made much difference to the match.

Makes me proud as * even though it happened almost 30 years before I was born.

The simplest way I can put it is, it puts our club permanently 'on the map'. Nobody can ever tak that away from us. 22 clubs have won it, and we're one of them. The rest? Well, they haven't :icon_mrgreen:

    Pretty much this.

We are one of the first clubs mentioned when it comes to stories of European football history.

Pride, to have been the first Scottish club was an amazing achievement in itself but to be the first British club is just absolutely outstanding, we won it before any of the so called bigger and better clubs from south of the border. We were the first, we created history, no one can ever take that away from our club, that group of players are legends.

Great replies! Thank you...for those that doubt me I am VERY serious about this and it is genuine. My father is Jim Craig, I live in New Zealand and am looking to do all this next year with the release online on May 25th 2017.
I was a rugby player so never played football but am always amazed at the passion that you guys have for the club. I have four kids and I want to tell them the story of why Grandpa still has people coming up to him to shake his hand and get a selfie with him after all these years. plus...it is an AMAZING story of what they did and how they did it!

Drakhan...that is a great question as Joe was a prolific goalscorer and really did get a bad injury...nowadays he would have been fixed and back on the pitch in weeks but back then.....

So to add fuel to the conversation...what should the title be of the Documentary?

    I have two ideas
    1. The Golden Lions of Lisbon
    2. It's a Grand Old Team

So serious or not so serious keep it coming......I have a thick skin! ;-)

    thanks again!!

My passion for the club would be due to our Irish connections.

Also, to answer your question a bit: We're so passionate about this because we'll never repeat this great feat again... The team that won that day were all born within 20? Miles of each other. That's never happened before or since.

No Scottish club will come close to doing this again and no matter how many stars the rangers have on their chest, it'll never even come close to matching our one and that also delights us :smiley-laughing002:
