At least we will have European football until beginning of December at earliest.

Well, seeing as we (should we advance to the group stages) will be the sole representatives of Scottish fitba, the revenue produced solely from participation and TV revenue should be upwards of £15m. That's not taking into account prize money accumulated for further progression, points gained, nor ticket sales/merchandise etc etc.

i guesstimate that qualifying for the group stages should net us (all in) about £20m+

I'd rather not have European football than have Europa.

Drab games in half empty stadiums, and always playing after the huns on a Sunday.

Would rather avoid Zagreb and ludogorets, I feel they're the two strongest teams.

    Man Utd
    Schalke
    Inter Milan
    Atletico Bilbao
    Zenit

Plus another couple of big guns will probably drop in from the CL non Champions route... Roma are unseeded, so are Monaco.

The Europa League will be full of quality, as it has been for the last few years.

We're not in a position to turn out nose up at European football, whether it lacks the prestige of the big one or not.

That being said, we need the Champions League in order to progress as a club.

Id hope most of it would be spent doing their ground up...its falling down..

Here's the thing since we started playing in the CL we have gone backwards at an alarming rate... Sold our stars and had little to no money put back into the playing side of things. We went from beating BARCELONA to the shamble we are today in terms of playing staff.... , do you think that will change? I dont..Not with PL at the helm, nothing will change

    Champions League should be about:

    CL Play-offs Win: €2million(£1.7million)
    CL Group Fee: €12million(£10.18million)
    CL Group Market Pool: €11million(£9.33million)***
    CL Group Win Bonus: €1.5million(£1.27million)
    CL Group Draw Bonus: €500k(£424k)

***Market Pool is unknown now but for the UK expected to be 50% higher than it was so €11million should be round about.

So if we qualify we would be guarenteed £21.2million just for qualifying, when you add in ticketsales of the Groups that will be about £4.4million, so overall about £25.6million + every point you get is worth about £400k.

    Europa League:

    CL Play-offs Loss: €3million(£2.54million)
    EL Group Fee: €2.4million(£2.04million)
    EL Market Pool: €1.5million(£1.27million)
    EL Group Win Bonus: €360k(£305k)
    EL Group Draw Bonus: €120k(£102k)

Again Market Pool not really known but it was €1.1million the last time and has probably went up under the new deal.

Europa League worth atleast £5.85million + ticket sales(which i'd guess would be about £1.3million due to lower prices and less sales than the CL) so about £7.15million + bonuses.

This isn't true at all. What we did do though was waste most of it on absolute * and * it up a wall when we should have been far more clever with it like we were in Lenny's first season after raking in the McGeady money. Look at the Summer we sold Wanyama, went and spunked it on Pukki (£3M), Balde (£2M) and Boeriggter :sicksmile (£3M). And that's not taking into account wages. We have been spending money, we just haven't been spending it on the right players.

Some money will also be wasted though. Like the summer we sold Wanyama we signed Van Dijk who was sold for about £13.5million. We also signed Bitton that summer who is probably worth atleast £4million.

Champions League is where everyone wants to be.

Hate when folk put down the Europa though. Aye, it isn't the same but I will still want us to take it seriously.

Folk saying they'd rather not have European football than play in the Europa? Embarrassing. Attitude of the fake Man United fans etc when they dropped into it the other year.

We aren't in the position to turn our nose up. Folk need to realise where we are.

Aye, i'd always want to be in it. Even just for the £7million bonus compared to if we lost last night and then never made the Europa League, £7million is a lot to us its more than we get for winning the League 2 times in a row.

Its also important to always be in Group Stage European football to attract players and also for our players to get experience. Tierney may not be the player we know now if he never took great confidence from playing well against Ajax and Fenerbahce in basically his first few games for the club.

Agreed. Also those that say they don't want to see us in the Champion's League as we'd get pumped

I couldn't care less if we get pumped, people don't realise how important this is financially for us, especially after 2 back to back misses..

All the money we got from the CL and the money we got from players like Wanyama, Hooper, McGeady, Forster and big Virgil and so on has not been reinvested in the squad hence our decline and failure to qualify for the CL in recent years..Yes we get a token 2 or 3 million signing now and again to keep season ticket and Merchandise money flowing..We buy cheap and last minute in the hope to get a bargain and resell.. Again that's not reinvesting to me.. Quantity over quality in the hope one turns out to be a Wanyama or Big Virgil... That's my take on it..

We have now had Group Stage European football in 14 of our last 16 seasons(well 13 but we reached the UEFA final 1 season when there was no Groups), a great record. Only Strachan V Bratislava and Lennon V Utrecht got us knocked out before the Groups.

Not many teams can say that, probably only about 20 other clubs will have done that well over that period.
