If we can't beat those teams we don't deserve to be there.

Wouldn't say I'm confident of beating any of those sides but it's obviously more than possible.

    Need a gaffer in pronto.

    No

Red Bull Salzburg are top seeds.
    We are 2nd top currently.

If we progress to 3rd rd then we would be 4th behind
    Olympiakos
    Viktoria Plzen
    Red Bull.Salzburg

I hope they hurry up and get a manger in quick.
He needs to get in and bring in players in time for registration for the Champions League 2nd rd registration deadline of July 7th.
That's just over 7 weeks away.

Some dangerous sides In that play off round, we should be disposing of any team in there but not taking any of them lightly, teams like Red Star and Bate are good teams Red stars league record this year is very impressive and the atmosphere at there place would be insane they don't half make a noise over there so we would have to treble our efforts at parkhead!

We need a solid group stage season soon before the 2012-13 season comes off our coefficient.

After being in the last 16 in 2012/13, not qualifying three years in a row would be a bit of a disaster. There's going to be serious pressure on the next manager but it's going to be very difficult.

Well we obviously won't have a manager in by 1st June, that's a given, :icon_mrgreen: wonder how near we can get to the games before we get a manager in, lol.

We might manage before the draw, but then again it's Celtic.

I do agree that all of those sides are very beatable, maybe we don't want Scandanavian teams, particularly Rosenburg as they are still in their seasons and will be at good fitness levels

BATE potentially could be the trickiest, they regularly get into the groups and are clearly a decent side and don't seem scared of reputations based on past results

This discussion should pick up some steam now with Rodgers official. Will we qualify for the group stages with him here and investment now seemingly imminent? Does Rodgers have enough time to impliment his style?

Bit early for me to be making any predictions yet.

Most interesting thing for me now is how he assesses the squad and what players he is going to target.

Lot of fans seem to think we will go to England but as I have said we'd be best staying abroad but moving up the ladder slightly. With £15-20m and a decent wage as well we could attract the likes of Borja Baston, Elyonoussi maybe even Hakim Ziyech if we qualified for the CL.

The best value for money is still abroad and with a bigger budget this could allow us to spend more on better value 'projects' if you still want to use that word. Perhaps combined with a few bargain buys in England.

I really think he's gonna want 3-4 players from down south with Premier League or at least Championship experience. Johnny Russell and Snodgrass always spring to mind for me. Those 2 with Griffiths up front alone would be enough to get us to the playoffs in my opinion. I think he's going to want a distributing midfielder as well. Dont think Gerrard or Joe Allen are completely out of the question.

Leon Britton will be our ball winning, distributing kind of midfielder if he looks for one in the English market.
