I did some quick calculations on our potential earnings if we should qualify. Qualification through the rounds we've played and the playoff would earn us €2.7m (if we don't qualify we get €3.7m plus 10% of the TV group pool for Scotland).
The group stage fee is €12m and matchday receipts would be about £7.5m for the three games, giving us a guaranteed £17.9m.

If we win a game we get €1.5m and if we draw we get €0.5m. We would also get the whole TV pool amount for Scotland this part I can only guess at but it could be around €15m.

In essence qualification would earn us around £29m plus performance bonuses dependant on results. Win all our home games and it is worth another £3.2m.

Ridiculous amount of money, would be a big boost for us. Money given out on CL and Europa league should depend on what league the team comes from and it's revenue to even things up. Bonuses for teams who have went through all the qualification rounds for example giving the team one less qualifying round the next year and so on.

Cheers for working that out Che :50: I have a lazy ignorance when it comes to football finances.

That is a * load of money in the grand scheme of things for us!

In the Premiership? The most comparable record with any English team, with the only competition we've both entered, is probably Man City. They've had similar results/performances and have hit the last 16 as their level.

    Money isn't everything. :86: :smiley-laughing002:

I agree though, it's vital to our growth to be honest, not qualifying isn't even an option.

I'm not saying Ronny should be sacked if we don't make it but his jaicket would be oan a shoogly peg that's for sure.

ronnys job wont be hanging by a thread if we don't qualify for champions league. now if we didn't qualify for the champions league and didn't qualify for Europa league then maybe I would agree with you.

    We're already in the EL.

The disparity in money is a joke between the two competitions though, not making the CL for a second year would be a * disaster.

You taking me outta context ya *? :smiley-laughing002:

The turnover is essential, right enough. If we qualify through to the CL, we will get about 5m Euro from not qualifying for the CL, plus what the actual competition brings in revenue and gate receipts. We could be looking at £12 or £13m instead of £30m.

I meant in quality. If you think Celtic is much better than for example Fulham (for a couple of years ago) which team is a good comparison?

I have no idea, we aren't English and don't play in England. It's a daft comparison to make.
