pretty sure there was something like this going on before the cl draw last season crazy what an edit to the time will do.

 

Heard of someone doing that before now that I think about it.... think it was when predicting the fixtures for the knockout stages of the CL or something like that.

Really enjoyed the tournament overall though. It probably is the best WC of all time and if not, then it's definitely up there with the best. A big improvement on 2010 anyway.

I fear the balance of the WC has shifted permanently to western Europe. The heart of the game is from the Rio Grande to Tierra Del Fuego, but the brains, and the wallet are floating somewhere over Switzerland. They just don't have the league infrastructures and the sport-science.

This was the chance for a Argentina, Brazil, or Colombia victory. I do not see them winning in Russia (I'd be surprised if Germany didn't)

Gratz to Germany. I'm sorta meh about this one, same as Spain. Another case of assuming it was the likely outcome. I think if Di Maria plays this game is quite different.

I think the chances for outsiders to win have come and gone (Hungary, Former Yugoslavia, Turkey, AFC or Africa)

I think we will see dominance by western Europe for a long, long time.

 

I must be one of the few who found this world cup to be a bit of an anti-climax. So many games with few goals and goals late on, teams setting out determined not to lose rather than win.

Meh. Bring on the Celtic, EPL & La Liga seasons.

 

It kinda tailed off after the group stages, it was obvious so many players were totally cunted after long seasons with their clubs.

 

Joint highest goals scored in a world cup 171 along with France 98. Thought it was quite open myself teams were a lot more attack minded than SA 2010.

It's definitely whetted my appetite for the season ahead wi Ronny and Johnny.

Mine were probably Costa Rica as a whole, they were * brilliant!
James Rodriquez goal against Uruguay left me in speechless.
And the pumpings Spain and Brazil got from the Dutch and Germans was special.

Argentina legend Diego Maradona has criticised FIFA for naming Lionel Messi the Golden Ball award.
Messi was named player of the tournament ahead of players including Arjen Robben, James Rodriguez and Mats Hummels.
... Despite scoring four goals in seven matches at the tournament, Messi struggled to have an impact during the semi final and Sunday's final.
Maradona, who captained Argentina to the World Cup in 1986 believes his countryman should not have been named the tournament's best player.
He said: "Messi? I would give him heaven if possible. But it's not right when someone wins something that he shouldn't have won just because of some marketing plan."
