Apparently Celtic have bid for Pandiani. Just a rumour though at this stage.

its more likely to be someone like koumas and whittaker than bellamy or the like... and why all the hype about bellamy?for a start robbie keane is a far better all round player at the price.anyway, in time scott mcdonald could be as good if not a more prolific scorer than bellamy and coupled with a fit again magic and a new dynamic midfield the goals will be flowing at paradise next season no doubt about it.

id say let scott mcdonald try and forge a partnership with big jan with magic and beattie providing back up...i have a good feeling about this mcdonald.. hes only 23 can take penos(thank ghod:84:) and like all aussies has a never say die attitute and will improve greatly here.

id pump our remaining funds on a new creative midfielder/maybe an out and out winger like hunt of reading maybe and get 2 quality defenders say whittaker and richard dunne would be a real coup

wouldn't call barton a scumbag. wants to play in the champions league and these foreign * are only interested in money, they cudnt care less were there team would finish. bartons jst showin he cares for the club. OK he went over the top but still shows he cares. he would calm down up here because we'r in the champs league and win trophies. as for bellamy, he had a great goal scorin record up here and was never in trouble in the 6 months. both would be great signins. nobody could catch bellamy wen he was up here and he showed how gd he can be against dundee utd.

Oh *!! Where the * are those blue chips, everyone talks about?

Scott Brown was our main signing target:

strachan: brown was our top target

    David Friel
GORDON STRACHAN has hailed Celtic’s capture of Scott Brown as fantastic business and insisted the 21-year-old midfielder was always his No.1 transfer target.

The highly-rated Hibernian star signed for the Hoops earlier this week and will report with the rest of Strachan’s squad for pre-season training in July.

The Celtic boss expects Brown and fellow new Hoops recruit, Scott McDonald from Motherwell, to add both ability and enthusiasm to his talented championship-winning side.

“We made Scott a priority and he is here,” said Strachan, as he looked ahead to Sunday’s final league match of the season against Hibernian at Easter Road.

“He will bring a lot of things to this club. It can be hard to talk about players before they arrive, because you hope they will come along and show you what they’ve got.

“Sometimes, you talk about things and they don’t materialise, but hopefully Scott will come and show his full range of talents.

“Hopefully we can give Scott, and Scott McDonald, the platform to carry on the good work they have already done at their clubs.

“I hope that everyone who joins us adds to our play. They are young players and I hope they can make it better, quicker, more athletic. You look for that in every player you sign.”

With Brown and McDonald signed up for next season, Strachan will now turn his attention to other signing targets, which he hopes to bring to the club sooner rather than later.

“We don’t want to be scrambling about at the end of July, because that can cost you,” said the manager, who also praised the Celtic board for their support. “So far, we’ve done our homework, done our business and hopefully they (Brown and McDonald) will be two good players for the club.

“They are two young players – full of enthusiasm, full of hunger and that will help us. We’re looking to pick up the best deals financially and the best players as well. It just so happens that the two players we’ve signed come into that category.”

Strachan will make a final decision on the future of loan signing Jean-Joel Perrier-Doumbe in the next few weeks and will also be talking to David Degen, Borussia Moenchengladbach’s Swiss midfielder, who has been training with Celtic this week.

He said: “David had to rush back to his club today, but it’s been good that he can come and see us, and that we can see him.

“He’s enjoyed his few days here and we’ll sit down and talk about it. Again, we need to discuss things and find out if there are other options for the club. The first person we will let know is David.”

Looking ahead to Sunday’s match, Strachan is likely to make some changes with the Scottish Cup final six days later firmly in his thoughts.

He said: “Some players need games and some players don’t. I’ll look at that and let the boys know the team on Saturday.”

Owls to miss out on striker Fri, May 18 2007 16:43Celtic are vying with Preston and Sheffield Wednesday for the signing of League One top scorer Billy Sharp from Scunthorpe.[IMG]Scunthorpe knocked back an offer of over £1million for the striker from Wednesday earlier in the week and with fresh interest from Preston and Scottish champions Celtic it could be that they are priced out of a move for the player. Preston boss Paul Simpson is likely to be handed a significant portion of the money he gets for striker David Nugent, if he is sold, which means he would almost certainly be able to offer more than Owls boss Brian Laws. If Celtic get involved they could out-bid both Championship sides for the services of the 21-year-old who topped the scoring charts last season in League One.
