This may be controversial and I wouldn't class him as 'amazing' but Craig Gordon.

When we signed him I thought he was finished and saw it as a cheap option after Forster left. Which it probably was tbh but 5 years later I would say that despite his critics he has served us well considering where he came from. 225 appearances later.

Played his part in the success lately...as much as he has had his tough times.

John Hughes. Remember thinking "what the *!" When Tommy signed him. He hardly put a foot wrong that season we only lost 1 league game. Scored at the midden too.

A mate of mine said to me in 1997 " I've watched some dutch football on eurosport. If that Larsson * is the type of player we're signing then I'm giving up my season ticket, he's pish" then sitting watching that hibs moment on TV he started shouting "* told you, useless *!"

He didn't give his season ticket up and ended up with a full blown Larsson tattoo on his shoulder.

It's a good one. You're not allowed to praise Gordon on here though.

    Since when?

Gordon was fantastic when he first come in, and has made some exceptional saves over his entire time here, but (perhaps being thrown under a bus by Fraudgers trying to turn him in to a ball-playing keeper) he's beem bynand large rotten for the last couple of seasons.

I think overall his time here has been a complete succesa, but his time has been and gone.

Will hold my hands up and admit I was underwhelmed by Lennon and Sutton.

Think that’s the only 2 in about 30 years I’ve called incorrectly tbf.

I agree with all of that. It was tongue in cheek. People seem to hate him

Underwhelmed by 2 x £6 million signings, one a former Premiership top scorer and the other a double English League Cup winner with Leicester?

I'm glad you lowered the bar for your sake, Willo Flood and Carlton Cole would've had you phoning the Samaritans.

Depends who we were being linked with at the time.

I'm too young to remember (THE 90S) as I was only 5 when MON signed but if we were being linked with a young Van Nistelrooy or prime Shearer it may have been underwhelming.

From what I can remember people were underwhelmed with Lenny, a 29 year old, high price and not flashy in the slightest when we had Lambert.

Turned out a great bit of business.

Robson for me, mainly due to his age but was happy to have been proven wrong. Loved the tenacity in his play.

Wanyama was never being looked at as a centre half for us. He was only played at centre half due to injuries at the time.

No chance Sutton and Thompson were underwhelming.

    I was a kid :39:

Basically I felt we were shopping in the wrong market and could’ve put that money to better use elsewhere.

Lubo every day of the week, some old duffer I'd never heard off.

Can also mind spouting my mouth off in the pub at the time about signing * like Larsson and Blinker.

    I was half right.
