Just seen on sky sports news that Celtic have confirmed a £25million extension to our kit sponsor.

Surely there can'e be anymore excuses on transfers, can there?

Yes, yes there can be. It's Strachan we're talking about. Once he gets over the fact that good players don't want to come and play for him, he'll realise and tell us the truth.

This money will be spread over a few seasons and if we don't make the CL next season then maybe that will be the deciding factor.

The wages will be cut down next season at least when Balde goes and hopefully some other high earners.

True, but we can get better than we've got. Not by much but but still an improvement. I know there is all these kids signing but for next season, win or lose the title, we need experience and a bit more quality especially in the forward, CB and LB positions.

Happy with the money and with the brand,Nike have better gear all round from Back packs to jackets,I even managed to get an exact replica of our 1967 shirt from them, dont get me wrong im sure Nike are in with us for the money just as much as us with them.but there choice and range is so much better, and living in Australia its easier now to buy the gear in sports shops than it was with umbro

great news...future looks bright...hopefully we can clinch the league title and gain direct access to the champions league...nike money + champions league money can certainly help us get some class signings
plus all the youth coming in- futures bright, its green and white

we should pick up a fair whack at the end of the season when the CL money comes in anyway, so this is great news on top of that. Our debt should be wiped and we should, technically be looking at around £4-5m profit.

You don't get this as a lump sum though its paid over an extensive time period... so in effect its not as grand as you think.. we still don't have the clout to buy big because we are living off instalments.

yeah I know, but after the last £25 mill plus all the shirt sales and so on plus CL money and the lack of spending we should still be able to by better than we have. I'm not saying pay OTT for it but we can get better in.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

Yeah for sure it will when combined with other revenue it could well mean we are in a position for a couple of experienced/quality signings.

Lets hope so anyway... i feel 2-3 guys who have been there and done it will help the team no end.. esp as we are such a young inexperienced team.

Most deals are agreed in installments. Transfers, sponsorship, TV money - mostly all paid in installments. This deal is no different. Probably get £5m a year which is no too bad in my book.

will it not be £5m per year as long as we are in the group stages of the CL, if we don't qualify for that it's likely to be less, most contracts like this have performance related clauses

This deal doesn't start until 2010, and we don't get all the money up front. And not every penny that comes into the club can go towards players. This is a business, we need to turn a profit to stay healthy (especially in times like this)

It's a great deal to get, though. Top man Peter Lawwell.

Either way our wage bracket and transfer kitty will be relatively unchanged.

It's a guaranteed MINIMUM of £5m per year plus further bonuses depending on merchandise sale.
