war movies really fascinate mate, especially modern wars (1990- today). I know there are tons of very good WW2 movies out there, but I prefer modern war movies.

Black Hawk Down is one of the best movies I have ever seen and I need to see more similar movies. any good advice around?

Depends on your definition of 'modern'. If you include Vietnam-era in there then Full Metal Jacket and Platoon are givens.

*EDIT* 1990 - onwards? Scratch that then heh.

Someone mentioned Platoon - easily my favourite war film of all time. Absolutely amazing.

Jarhead - also a very good one.

There's alot of them out there you just have to have a look.

If you're a buyer check the Virgin megastore in Glasgow in the War section.

If you're a downloader, check Virgin anyway for good titles to download.

    lol

There's a Korean movie I watched about a year ago, about the Korean War....seriously good movie but I can't * remember the name of it. Definitely worth looking out for though.

Not a traditional war film but I highly recommend Hotel Rwanda if you want to see a movie about the hardships of war and the human side!

Whats the name of that film which stars Jude Law and Rachel Weiss(Ooft) i think it is based on Russia in the second world War, The Sniper scene is pretty good in it.
