New manager

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by SkyeCelt, Oct 26, 2025.

  1. I actually think we've more chance of winning the league with MON and Maloney than Nancy but I'm still not wanting them kept on till end of the season as it means January transfer window will be * loan deals and leave us with a new manager and a massive rebuild a month before the qualifiers.

Appointing Nancy is effectively handing the title to the Huns

  2. Hope it is Nancy. Think he will be a breath of fresh air and his full on attack tactics will suit us better than McKenna or knutsen

  3. Hopefully points to Knutsen as he's best option out of the 3 main ones mentioned.

Still think it's ridiculous if we've not even attempted to speak to Marco Rose tho.

    He's the absolute standout candidate

  4. Football management ain't no popularity contest, couldn't give af how dour his face is so long as he has us hitting heights that we've not seen in Europe for a long time

  5. The more I read about what’s happening at Celtic and that there’s no sign of regime change even in relation to board positions like Chairman and CEO, the more worried I’m becoming. It’s like those who have been in control are determined to run the club into deep trouble to get back at the fans maybe who they feel slighted by. I wish that they would have the courage and smarts to step aside but it appears they’re going to do more harm before they’re gone.

  6. That's why I want Knutsen, easily the standout candidate. Worked wonders with Bodo on a shoestring, they went from literal nobodies to a domestic powerhouse culminating in them reaching the Champions League.

Europa League Semi Final last year, the Conference League Semi finals before that.. I mean imagine what he could do here with the right people behind him. He's a proven winner and competes remarkably well in Europe.

We need someone to push us on in Europe now. Well aware of the structural changes also needed to make that happen, but if we appoint someone like Nancy it tells you all you need to know about the height of their ambition. Comparisons with Ange don't stick one bit for me.

    Knutsen
    Rose
    Hayen
    McKenna

That should be the shortlist. Nancy should be nowhere near the thing. I'm sure there are plenty of other trendy, hipster up and coming managers that we could get if that's the route we're going down.

  9. They won’t spend a lot regardless of who is in charge to be fair.

  10. Nancy is a really good candidate for us tactically , and his CV is impressive.
MLS is a level playing field and to win it is * hard to win the whole thing, have to do well in a league system then win a few cup finals in the play offs and eventual one off final....he's done that and in the same season won the league cup and got to the final of their Champions League which includes South American sides. He won a title in Canada aswell and took that Canadian side to the QF of that Champions League.
His attacking style is perfect for a club with superior resources, so would be good for us domestically certainly. Be nice to be entertained week in week out aswell.
The MLS/South America would be a good value market for us for the lesser known gems that Nancy would have knowledge of much like Ange and Japan.
Would be more than open to that appointment .

  11. And he is also black & french

Have you read the post by Montreal_Celtic on Twitter? It's grim reading, especially the standard of the Canadian league.

The Canadian cup was won playing only 3 games. HFC Wanderers, Forge FC with Toronto in the final. So one MLS level team.
Allegedly the owner picks the team. Opts for long balls to the wingers and hopes for the best.

The only part that makes this any level of interesting for me, is that Montreal use analytics quite heavily, so Nancy is used to that. If we've just sacked our head of scouting, i wonder if this could be part of a major shake-up.

If it wasnt for ambrose lying about being ready, he'd have a last 8 champions league to his name. Greatest modern manager yet.

Don't think MLS sides compete with S American sides.. Mexican and Central American CL..

He'd be an exciting appointment for me but would be very risky..

Comparisons with Ange stop at a fairly untapped market, Ange has much more experience.

With the way our structure is, its probably a needless gamble.

It's more due to the fact that I'm not convinced on most of the candidates.

I'd also trust him and Maloney to see us through to January at least more so than chucking an unknown quantity into a very busy and crucially important period of games.

Just my opinion. Don't want him long term but I could see us throwing someone else in ending even more badly with how the squad currently is.

Simple answer for me is would I rather Nancy or MON and Maloney to be in charge, with this current slap dash group of players, away to Hibs, St Mirren, cup final and at home to Hearts? It's the latter all day and that's thinking about saving this season.

  19. I am almost certain that we will keep MON in charge untill the summer.
