Loan round from the previous weekend from the Celtic way


Given the volume of youngsters away representing their countries, few loanees were in action over the past week.

Josh Clarke started for Partick Thistle as they earned a one-all draw against Greenock Morton at Cappielow in the Scottish Championship. He made a terrific save in the first half before his team grabbed a late leveller in the second. Clarke has caught the eye at Thistle for his shot-stopping and impressive ability to play out from the back.

Sean McArdle, also on loan at Mark Wilson's side, didn't feature in the Morton draw because he was away with Scotland's under-19s, who drew one and lost the other in a double-header with Italy.

Finally, 17-year-old right-back Aodhan Taylor continued racking up senior minutes at East Stirlingshire. He featured in back-to-back losses to Greenock Juniors (2-1) and Tranent Juniors (4-2), coming off with an ankle knock against the latter. The injury didn't look too serious, as he was able to walk off the pitch.

 

Still no gametime for Nawrocki. I'd say we could end up releasing him on a free transfer next summer at this rate if he's struggling to get minutes in a back 3 in Bundesliga II. He could arguably be the pound for pound biggest flop of the Mark Lawwell era.

Hasn’t really had the luck

 

Don't think its injuries as he has consistently been on the bench for them including pre season, he's been an unused sub in all games bar 1 where he didn't make the match day squad. He's obviously not making an impact. He might get a run soon as they shipped another 3 goals today but its very worrying he doesn't seem to be able to get minutes particularly when its a back 3 that should be easier for him to crack. Even when a CB is subbed he's not getting the call.

Celtic's two homegrown Scottish Premiership loanees each suffered defeats at the weekend. Adam Montgomery played just over an hour as Livingston were thrashed 4-0 by Hibernian at Easter Road. Fellow defender Stephen Welshcompleted 90 minutes in Motherwell's 2-1 loss at home to Falkirk. Calvin Miller, who made five senior Celtic appearances after coming through the club's academy, scored the first top-flight goal of his career to draw the Bairns level and kickstart a comeback win.

Down a division in the Scottish Championship, Partick Thistle moved level on points with league leaders St Johnstone. Before they took on Scott Brown's side in a game with several Celtic associations on Wednesday, they secured a crucial 1-0 win over Ross County at the weekend.

Josh Clarke and Ben McPherson started the match and played a full 90 each. It was a third clean sheet of the campaign for the goalkeeper, with McPherson particularly impressing at right-back. Sean McArdle was an unused substitute


Ayr set themselves up for the Tuesday night clash at Firhill with a victory of their own. Kyle Ure and Jude Bonnar both came on as 59th-minute substitutes in a 2-1 triumph over Greenock Morton. The latter made a considerable impact on proceedings, setting up Ben Dempsey's late winner with a smart cut-back cross.

Then, in the battle of former Celtic teammates, it was Mark Wilson who came out on top. Clarke and McPherson started for Thistle in their 2-1 win, with Ure getting the nod for Ayr. The young midfielder was caught on the ball for the hosts' opener, which was scored by ex-Parkhead prospect Tsoanelo Letsosa.

McArdle came on as a late substitute and helped his team see out the win, electing to take the ball into the corner and shield it well in the dying embers instead of going for glory.

Finally, there was a full 90 for 17-year-old Aodhan Taylor, as East Stirlingshire were beaten 5-3 by the University of Stirling in the Lowland League.




Young Celtic goalkeeper Tobi Oluwayemi, who made 36 appearances during a temporary spell at Dunfermline Athletic last season, has joined Kilmarnock on a seven-day emergency loan deal.

The 22-year-old could feature for Stuart Kettlewell's side against Rangers at Ibrox this weekend, and when they welcome Aberdeen to Rugby Park next Wednesday night.

Welsh Dominates as Motherwell Beat Livi
Stephen Welsh was one of the standout performers in Motherwell’s 2–1 win over Livingston on Saturday. The Celtic loanee was statistically the most fouled player on the pitch, won the most duels, completed passes at 91% accuracy, and recorded 101 touches.

Adam Montgomery missed out on Livingston’s defeat due to injury and is expected to be out for a few weeks.



Palma Quiet in Europe and Domestic Stalemate
Luis Palma had a quieter week with Lech Poznań. He was involved in their surprise defeat to Lincoln Red Imps in the UEFA Conference League midweek and played in the 0–0 draw with Legia Warsaw at the weekend. While still influential on the left wing, it wasn’t one of Palma’s more eye-catching displays.


Nawrocki Makes Hannover Debut in 3–0 Win
There was finally a senior debut for Maik Nawrocki at Hannover 96. The Polish defender started Sunday’s match and played 58 minutes in a 3–0 win, impressing before being withdrawn with the game under control. After weeks of waiting, Nawrocki will now hope to build momentum and stake his claim in the starting XI.





Thistle Slip Up as Celtic Trio Feature in Loss
Partick Thistle dropped from joint top of the Championship following a 2–0 defeat to Raith Rovers. Josh Clarke and Ben McPherson both started the match, while Sean McArdle came off the bench to play 30 minutes.
Despite the result, all three Celtic loanees continue to feature regularly under Mark Wilson, with Thistle still firmly in the title race.




Ure and Bonnar Feature as Ayr Held
Kyle Ure played the full match for Ayr United as they were held to a 0–0 draw by Queen’s Park. The midfielder continues to get consistent minutes in the Championship. Jude Bonnar was introduced in the 70th minute, helping Ayr see out the clean sheet and secure a point on the road.

Welsh Called Into Action at Hampden as Well Crumble
Stephen Welsh started on the bench for Motherwell’s Premier Sports Cup semi-final at Hampden, but was introduced at the break with the Steelmen trailing 2–0 to St Mirren.
Welsh helped shore things up briefly as Motherwell pulled one back, but it wasn’t enough as St Mirren ran out 4–1 winners. The Paisley side will now face Celtic in the final, setting up a showdown in December.

Adam Montgomery remains out injured for Livingston, missing another weekend of action as he continues his recovery.




Palma On Target Again in Poznań Comeback
Luis Palma was on the scoresheet again for Lech Poznań, pulling a goal back in their 2–2 draw with Motor Lublin on Sunday.
The winger’s strike reduced the deficit to 2–1 before Poznań levelled late on. Palma now has four goals and three assists in the Ekstraklasa.




Nawrocki Building Momentum in Back Three Role
Maik Nawrocki made his second consecutive start for Hannover 96, playing on the right side of a back three in a 2–2 draw with SV Elversberg.
The Polish defender was solid once again, and early signs suggest he’s settling into the side well after a long wait to make his debut. A regular run of games could be exactly what he needs to get his career back on track.


Holm Still Absent
There is no further update on Odin Holm, who has not been in a matchday squad since September 1st as he continues to deal with a rare and debilitating calf condition.





Thistle Hammer Five Past Queen’s Park
Partick Thistle sent a message to the rest of the Championship with a 5–0 thrashing of Queen’s Park, a win that keeps them second in the table, just behind St Johnstone.
Josh Clarke started in goal, keeping a clean sheet, while Ben McPherson also featured from the start at right-back. Sean McArdle came off the bench to contribute late on as the Celtic loanees continue to play key roles for Mark Wilson’s side.




Ure and Bonnar Involved in Brown vs Lennon Showdown
It was Scott Brown vs Neil Lennon on Friday night as Dunfermline edged out Ayr United 1–0 in the Championship.
Kyle Ure played the full match for Ayr in midfield, while Jude Bonnar was introduced from the bench with 30 minutes to play as the Honest Men searched for an equaliser that never came.

Welsh Back in the Motherwell XI
Stephen Welsh returned to Motherwell’s starting lineup and completed the full 90 minutes in a 1–1 draw away to Aberdeen at Pittodrie. The defender looked sharp and composed, helping the Steelmen earn a valuable point after a tough run of results.

Despite the mixed results, Palma’s creativity and drive continue to stand out for a Poznań side sitting eighth in the Ekstraklasa table.



Nawrocki’s Positive Run Continues
Maik Nawrocki made his third consecutive start for Hannover 96, playing in the middle of a back three during their 3–2 loss to Darmstadt. The Polish centre-half provided an assist for Ime Okon’s goal and looked confident on the ball throughout. Hannover sit fifth in the 2. Bundesliga, and Nawrocki’s growing influence is one of the positives in their early-season push.


Holm Still Sidelined
There’s no change in the situation with Odin Holm, who remains out of action due to a persistent calf condition. The midfielder hasn’t featured since early September.
