I read a story recently about a Walrus who kept sinking boats but really he was just after a wee rest.
I'm guessing you guys have probably heard about it. Such a funny story.

He did a bit of a boat-wrecking tour of Europe - including a circumnavigation of the U.K… before heading off for Iceland.

Last thought to be back in normal territory.

    Ok TC wildlife experts….

just rescued this from a water bowl left out for foxes and hedgehogs….

What is it? Newt of sone sort?

and what should I do with it?

let it go somewhere shady and damp? Don’t think there are any neighbours with ponds .. maybe passing through?!?

Hope your smooth newt was okay. If there are bushes nearby you could put her in them as they spend a lot of time on land. Or if you know of a nearby pond.

It was passing through , I have seen the odd one in similar circumstances in my garden over the years . She was most probably getting relief from the water bowl travelling from a to b.

Yes I really hope she was alright. Frogs and Toads are more frequently seen in our gardens also travelling from a to b.

A few from Colgagh last week, a quietish kinda morning, I watched a couple of young Grey Wagtails feeding on the various insects they found on the fence posts, i counted 7 Egrets at one point fishing their way around the loch, saw the resident Otter prowling around the reed beds but he was just too far out for a decent shot but it was nice to just sit and admire him for a while, i won't manage to get out until the weekend but i'll head back down that way and see if i can get a better shot of Mr Otter and if i'm really lucky Mr Kingfisher might put in an appearance.:35:

My favourite little bird… The Wren (apart from Elle Fanning)

always makes me smile when I see one flitting around the low hedges.

Last one from the Icy North…

Unfortunately.. because I can’t upload a decent file size.. you can’t zoom in properly and the sharpness is lost... so have added a crop.. not bad for about 600 metres away.

    They call him ‘Isbjorn’

He is in there…..he is ‘The King’…

It took until the final day of my trip to spot one….

Had almost given up (again)… so genuinely thrilled not just to see it… but to grab any kind of photograph of my own.

Really stunning pictures guys. As an afterthought, its nice that they have such a positive effect on me. Strange how a one dimensional photo has so many layers underneath that interest me. The weather is getting cooler here, I hope everyone can enjoy.

Really interesting creatures. They have a lot of parasites and are quite defenceless to predators i'm guessing. I know they can grow really massive though.
