Man this thread is from a long time ago!

    1. Echo and the Bunnymen Sunday 22nd December 1985 Barrowland (lost count of how many times I’ve seen them since that night, but it was the greatest of them all). I must’ve seen the Bunnymen at least 30 times, but probably so many more.

    2. Velvet Underground - Playhouse Edinburgh - late 80’s I think that was (bouncers were always * at the Playhouse!)

    3. U2, where to begin? Barrowland after the Rapid Vienna game - Unforgettable Fire tour, then 87 Joshua Tree tour SECC then Murrayfield. RDS Dublin, SECC, Celtic Park, Giants Stadium (that Zoo Tour went round the world a few times in the early 90’s indoor and outdoor). 97 Murrayfield the night after Diana was murdered. Then I just stopped as they completely disappeared up their own arses. Saw Bono recently at his book tour thingy and got to say it was brilliant so maybe I forgive them.

    4. The Pogues - Christmas at Barrowland in the 80’s was just a thing wasn’t it? * outstanding!

    5. The Cure - mostly their Christmas gigs they do every odd year in London in the last 20 years, but late 80’s NEC Birmingham was * outstanding, the live version of A Forest was mind blowing.

Note - I’d love to say The Smiths Queen is Dead Tour at Barrowland 86, but they were arrogant * that night and as much as the songs from the album were outstanding they didn’t play what we all wanted to hear for the most part. If I could find the set list you’d understand why I’m still * off about that!

    Where am I at?

    6. Simple Minds, again I’ve seen them many times was it 86 at the SECC Once Upon a Time tour when they really hit the big time? Great gig. Then seen them a few times wherever I’ve been working, Nottingham, Dublin (great gig with The Stranglers supporting) etc etc.

    7. Lloyd Cole & The Commotions, seen a few times but the Easy Pieces tour was 86 at SECC and The Big Dish supported them, was immense by both bands.

Then early 90’s I think on the Mainstream tour he dedicated Mr Malcontent to Paul McStay! Barrowland

Linking both Lloyd Cole & Simple minds was the gig at Ibrox in 86 again I think it was? The Waterboys were immense, The Cult, I’m sure Hipsway were there too (might be making that up, but saw them at The Pavillion and were great)
Imagine what it would cost now to see all of those bands individually? A festival in one day!

    8. The Mighty Lemon Drops 87 Level 8 Strathclyde Uni - * brilliant!

    9. oasis - balloch 96

    10. Beastie Boys - Barrowland 86 or 87? Brain fuzzy! Not a long gig but controversial and brilliant.

Special mentions, Kraftwerk, The Damned, The Cult, The Mission, The Pale Fountains, Big Audio Dynamite, Ocean Colour Scene, The Blue Nile, All About Eve, The Humpf Family, Kitchens of Distiction, Aztec Camera, Springsteen.

lastly EK’s own Jesus & Marychain for giving me the greatest tour t shirt of all time that simply said JESUS * on it! Outstanding! My father was apoplectic at that one!

I have seen so many gigs I’ve probably forgotten more than I’ve remembered! Texas first gig at the art school in 89 to about 50 people! Stuff like that!

    Anyway, I’ve lived a lucky life……..

Daft Punk @ Rockness was epic. Think it kicked off an hour late and one of the tent sides was removed because of so many people wanting to see them. It’s incredible how little they toured and so grateful I was there.

I’d recommend everyone listen to Alive 2007

I took my evening walk out past Murrayfield, there were loads of folks sitting outside the stadium just listening to it, so I stopped for a bit myself. Sounded amazing but I didn’t hear any of the big guns till I got back to my flat, half a mile away.

I was stood next to a girl who was out in her jogging outfit. Took all my willpower not to ask if she was Born To Run.
