Thank * we didn’t sign Toney. We had enough issues with Griffiths.

Didn't Pete Doherty write a song about him? "Down in Albian, black and blue".

To be fair he'd have been long gone by now and we'd be £15 - 20m in profit.

At least Toney hasn't tried to pump school weans yet..... As far as we know

This is Alan Thompson talking about his contract which he reckons was why he got frozen out the team under Strachan

“Not only was my contract incredibly handsome but I was also on a bonus of £10,000 an appearance on top of my basic salary.

"If I played two games in a week there’s £20,000 on top of what I was earning."

“I’m sure they must have thought, ‘hang on a minute we’ve had the best out of this fella and don’t need to be paying him any more — let’s get him out’.

Good player but that's an absolutely mental appearance bonus, probably similar for Sutton and Balde, I can sympathize with Strachan trying to get these players out when he's trying to build a new team while cutting costs

    Bring him home.
He can be our third striker, happy to fight it out with OH on a rotational basis.

No because he's simply not near good enough even to compete with Oh who is still a prospect at this stage.

Admittedly he can produce a very nice finish from time to time and I thought we'd be able to find a taker for him based on that but otherwise he's...
    • * on the ball
    • Weak as * for a guy his height and build
    • Far too slow
    • Prone to injuries
    • Apparantly on a decent wage, rumoured to be around £18k per week.
    • Doesn't fit our setup or the intensity we play at
    • Can't press well
    • On loan and still no one wants to risk buying him.
    • He's 26 years old
He has to go. Surely you can see that?

Given we spent £5m on him, I was all for giving him the pre season and a few sub appearances to see if he could recapture his form.

But what's the point if he can't stay fit. I'd rather give chances to avyoung player such as Joey Dawson.

Ajeti is another one of those players like ( GG), who never got a fair shake of things from Ange as regards appearances I think.
There is a player in there, he showed it at Basle, and he showed flashes of it at the start of his Celtic career, before being bombed out after a bad injury.

I think Ajeti could still come good if given a chance and a consistent run in the team, and we were to change to a 4-2-3-1 system

Superb shout. Let’s drop our Player of the Year, demote Oh who looks a potential star and change the whole team’s formation to suit a player who can’t run and isn’t close to good enough.

As harsh it would be... just release the guy and take the hit man.

Ain't no one giving us a decent fee for him

No one said dropping or demoting anyone. I've said Ajeti could be used as our third striker on a rotational basisi ( save us a bit of money for elsewhere in the team ). How do you expect Ajeti to ever get fit if Ange won't play him ?
The guy needs consistent game time to get up to speed just like John Hartson did all the time.

How do you give Ajeti a “consistent run in the team” without dropping Kyogo and demoting Oh? Both of those players are significantly better and it’s really that simple.

Comparing Ajeti to Hartson is farcical. Actually, it’s downright disrespectful.

I was referring to Ajeti's build, not his skill level compared to Hartson, he has a similar build to Hartson.
It's up to the manager how to give players a consistent run in the team. Ange couldn't do it with either GG or Ajeti, but he managed it with Kyogo somehow.

Ajeti won't play another game for Celtic. Good luck to him though.

    Eh?

The * you on about :56:

GG got plenty chances, 28 appearances and 9 goals in first half of this season alone
29 appearances and 17 goals last season. Baring in mind he was injured when he first joined and didn't get a run of games till October, before being out again during near the whole of December in his first season.

57 appearances over a season and a half where he had about 2-3 months out injured and scored 26 goals is s fairly * great return and a fairly * good amount of playing time.

We play one striker as it is, it's kyogo - his stats prove why.

    We currently play a 433 that's adapted from a 4231 anyway.
1 striker, two wide players, three central midfielders.
Not sure where folk would expect Ajeti to fit in? He's not playing out wide, he can't lead the line with the intensity we play at, he can't link the middle to the front and doesn't have the mental stats for the midfield at all.
