Yuki Kobayashi!

Bring back Biton!!

 

His declining performances have been strange as although limited he done fine in the game at home vs St Mirren and away to Killie where he was up against physical centre forwards and excelled with his passing game but the Ibrox game and last night were a shambles.

Physicality is always going to be a requirement for centre backs in Scotland. Kobayashi looks lightweight and isn’t blessed with pace either.

 

Scales is much, much better than him..

More mobile, although isn't particularly quick
More physical, yet isn't particularly solid himself
Versatile
Better on the ball

That sums up how bad Kobayashi is as Scales is never the answer either but I'd be more comfortable with him in a game like last night than Kobayashi or Bernabei..

Kobayashi was ropey as * at Tynecastle the first time round, kept getting done down the sides by Ginnelly. Then was pish against them when he started the other week as well to be honest....and been rank rotten since..

 

Thought he looked comfortable enough without being anything special his first couple of brief showings, but he's fallen off a cliff the last games (not the only one), will really need to bulk up if he's going to have a chance here long term. If it doesn't happen for him at least we've not been rinsed for a fee, can file him under a speculative punt that's not worked out.

He looked promising in his first couple games for us too but you can tell a mile off he’s never a Celtic centre half. Slow and weak as *, and even his passing and taking the ball out the back has been horrendous since CCV had his op.

Was a free/cheap punt and will surely be easily enough flogged back to the J league so not a total disaster but vital we get the next one right.

 

Massive summer for him. Needs to hit the gym like a madman, shave his heid and get some face tats. Come back for pre-season looking like someone you wouldn't want to bump into in a dark alleyway. Never gonna happen though. So let's find some hard as nails big Scandinavian viking CB.

 

He never struck me as a type that could be very physical. He could work on pace and reading of the game/decision-making. Should learn from Starfelt.

Would be keen to loan him out this summer to another physical league

 

I guess Min-jae Kim is the first really good CB from East Asia- and he's Korean, not Japanese. Maya Yoshida was OK, but not spectacular.

 

I'd keep him, but he's down the pecking order and we need better in the meantime.

Someone said we need two? Possibly.

Assume we keep CCV, Starfelt and Yuki, then perhaps a porteous type wouldn't be too bad if we also bring in another high calibre? Yuki could be loaned out then, with the idea of him coming in to be stronger again.

Stick a fork in him, he is done here. We do need two CB's I think too. Bomb Kobayashi and Welsh out,
and bring in another quality CB. I would be quite happy to have Scales as back up, as I think he has come on under Barry Robson, and because he is also versatile, being able to fill at CB and LB.

 

Has won 45% of his aerial duels for us. Woefully horrific to put it kindly

 

His ground duels are just as bad. If you can't be good in the air then at least be solid in the challenge on the ground.
