Problem is you cant just terminate a football player's contract.
You can offer the player to other clubs for completely free.... as in zero transfer fee....

But thats as much as you can do. If you get a player sitting on a contract with very good wages that just wants to sit on the contract and isnt interested in moving on...then you've got a problem and one that you have no way of legally getting rid of. Bobo Balde done that. Sat on his contract. And it was our own fault for giving him such a long a lucrative contract.

Most famously probably was Mesut Ozil at Arsenal (it always seems to be Arsenal). Done it for years. Never even showed any interest of moving. Wasnt even included on the bench for games. He literally got paid a hundred and odd grand a week and got a free season ticket for Arsenal aswell, watching every game from the stand. Done it for years

 

I agree he scored goals in his original spell in the Swiss league but he’s found goals hard to come by in his loan spell.

In my opinion he couldn’t be further from the type of striker Ange needs for his system. He’s far too slow to fit into a high press attack.

Ajeti is pish. A waste of a fee and wages. A tremendous failure of a transfer and one I hope we have learnt from.

He started well with us, scored a few goals and it was looking good at one time.
Still questions about his lack of pace and general fitness. It will be interesting to see what happens with him.

 

Ajeti is a £5m club asset and we can't just discard him without having another look.

I'm not suggesting that we start him instead of Kyogo or Oh, just a couple of 45min spells in pre-season.

That should be enough to tell us if he might be able to perform for us with the better players he'll now have around him, and the better coaching that we now have.

However he'll be in the last year of his contract next season so it won't cost us a fortune to rip up his contract.

Just have a wee look first to make sure.

 

You have a point there. He was given a few games-in a dysfunctional team at an awful time, so it may be a good call to give him a proper pre season and a few games, in a functional system, and then make a call.

 

We tried that in preseason for this season and he didn’t look interested and missed a fair few good chances. The dysfunctional team argument works for 21/22 preseason but not the last one.

He will likely be sold for a nominal fee that will help us give him a pay off so that he accepts a lower wage at his next club. Similar to what Spurs would have done with Hart when agreed to come here.

 

Ajeti isn't a £5m asset. He'd be an asset that would be lucky to be valued anything over £1m.

There's no point having another look. He's not good enough and needs punted in the summer. It'll be either for a nominal fee or on loan until his deal with us expires.

 

For fucksake - no more second looks, no more second chances. Just get this lazy * to * out of Celtic.

 

Soro will be bought by his team or even someone better in portugal, he’s played well there. Barkas will be bought cos he’s performed okay over in the Netherlands… think ajeti will be an issue to shift

 

Tbf to him he was never lazy…always at least tried. Really good interview with him about his time here, was just unfortunate timing mixed with a terrible injury record

 

Dont agree, buddy. His game is all about mincing around in the box waiting for the ball to land at his feet, the opposite of what is required in a Ange Postecoglou team. Will be very happy to see the back of the guy.

Lazy is a thing I’d not aim at him. He tried to adapt and work as much as he could to what we needed under Ange, to such an extent when Ange first came in he was showing that much work in training when Calmac wasn’t starting the pre-season friendlies Ange gave him the armband.


When he had to play first half of last season he was trying his heart out.

Problem is though, he’s no very good at it. * a born poacher. He’s a guy to stand in the box and put away a deflected cross.

It’s not what we need, not something that suits us, will be a detriment to the team. He * tried his heart out, but he was never a guy we should have brought here. Poor scouting, poor planning ahead to fit into our team and that’s nowhere near his fault, it’s ours.
