considering wage and agent spend, basically we’ve had him and his goals for the combined cost of * all which is good.

It’s far from great business though.

Ange comments re age of sale and replacement are so important.

We’ve lost 2 guys for 11-14 all in because it’s their final contract of real monetary value.

Replaced by guys younger - that tells me there is disappointment that the market is low and the longer we wait the more we lose.

The scottish market is a buyer’s one not a seller’s.

We are close to exhausting the Japanese market by the same metric, so there’s an argument that money in now is better.

I still fear we are a kyogo injury away from missing this guy big time, and I do not believe come summer his value would have dropped.

To that end and having seen this story before I just hope beyond hope it doesn’t bite us. I’d have been telling him I promise in summer you can go but we need you until then.

That’s my honest feelings on the matter. Why risk CL vs risk perhaps a few 100k drop in value of a single player which even then isn’t a certainty.

I think the driving force is Ange's laser focus on distilling the right mentality within the dressing room, and Gwak just didn't fit the character profile. He came in, did a job last season. Wish him well but Ange is not resting on his laurels

Seems ange is willing to take the gamble to see the pay out hopefully in cl next season.. the more conservative approach would be to keep jj and gg till the summer but that would have done nothing for the development of their replacements in Johnson and oh..

Whilst I can appreciate circumstances are now different, our squad was rife with unhappy players in the covid season and look how that turned out.

Its not a huge amount of money to get for a guy who comes with a guarantee of a decent goal return, however he’s the wrong side of 20 and was never going to get the money he’ll be on there with us.

If they don’t want to be here, move them on and we keep the squad ticking over. It’s refreshing rather than keeping hold of guys far too long that don’t want to play for Celtic.

Also, his agent has made a total * of this and I’m pretty sure when GG is looking back on his career once it’s done he’ll look back at this whole episode with a lot of regret. I think he thought there would be far more interest in him than what was actually shown, with a better standard of club.
