I thought there was a good player in there, and he always seemed to have a good attitude, but we're not a great place for the development he needed. Good luck to the big fella, and I'd be happy to see him at a bigger club in future and doing well

Moritz Jenz has revealed he misses playing at Parkhead after the former Celtic defender made his debut in the Bundesliga for struggling Schalke. And he admitted he had to quit Scotland because of a lack of playing time under Ange Postecoglou.

The German defender made 19 appearances for Celtic this season after signing on loan from French club Lorient, but the deal was cut short after he wasn't in Celtic's plans after the World Cup break. He joined homeland club Schalke on loan again and helped them to a clean sheet at the weekend after his debut against Cologne, but they are stranded at the bottom of the Bundesliga.




And Jenz admitted he still pines for Parkhead. He said: "It's crazy how the fans are back in Scotland. You hear them as soon as you make a tackle because, with Celtic, that would mean it's the start of a new attack. It's a different atmosphere at Schalke. With Celtic, it was just constantly loud. It was very cool.



But at the end of the day, my playing time at Celtic wasn't enough for me and I had to leave to get some games. I didn't have to think twice when Schalke came in for me. You can't say no to Schalke, they're a huge club in Germany and European football. But for us to stay in the Bundesliga, we will have to improve a lot."

 

It's a good move for him if Schalke stay up. Still not certain why it never worked out here, he made a few errors through rash challenges but thought generally he seemed pretty solid.

Why isn’t he moved to ex players. He was only on loan and we ended that. Not coming back here

 

Stick him in defence tomorrow, good run out for him.

If he played for like Schalke or something he'd help keep a clean sheet in last 2 games.

But until them give him a chance, Ange

 

3 goalless draws on a trot, wow, still leaves Shalke far better off than 2 weeks ago.

 

I'll say it again, stick him back in, bet anyone on this site if he for example went to the bottom team in bundesliga they wouldn't lose a single goal in 4 games, might be a brash comment but I'd bet my life on it.

Give him a run Ange.

 

Schalke now only 3 points from survival.
A win against Bochum would be most welcome.

 

In the last six games Shalke have conceded 1 goal. In the previous 17 games they conceded 41.

Obviously this isn't just down to Jenz, but he's certainly playing a part.

 

Guy did ok for us but Ange prefers Starfelt obviously. Hope he does well though, he obviously just wants to play which is totally fair enough.

 

Ange clearly does not fancy him. Good enough for me.
