If we’re bringing in someone to replace Giakoumakis, it should be someone that would realistically be competing with Kyogo for the starting spot and with the potential to contribute at European level. I’m not convinced that Nisbet fits either criteria to be completely honest.

In saying that, if he’s being brought in as short term second choice (Giakoumakis’ push for a move away catching us off guard or we can’t close the deal on some of our preferred targets this window for whatever reason) with the view of being a longer term third option, then I don’t think it’s the worst move ever.

I can’t imagine that Hibs would be willing to let him go for cheap though.

Sign Nisbet and Almasi. Nisbet can fill in for Almasi this season as he rehabs his injury and then see what we have come the end of the year and the summer transfer window.

Just a tad worried on his fee, but I'd think he'd be a good one.

As said if we get a 1st/2nd striker in summer then great.

Only prob is no physicality up front with our 2.

For a homegrown player who could potentially contribute a few goals along the way, I'm for it. Think we'll end up overpaying for him though.

Very underwhelming indeed, if he is Big Jackie’s replacement it’s a * travesty.

Wouldn’t mind him as third choice like others have said but shouldn’t be the player replacing the big man.

This is exactly how I feel about it. Fee dependent, and assuming we sign a first choice striker in the summer, I think this could be a smart move. Homegrown goalscorer, good age and happy to come here to compete, probably on low wages.

I agree with those suggesting Welsh could he used as a makeweight. Would make sense to offer, say, Welsh + £1m. They need someone of Welsh's profile to come in and replace Porteous.

If he joined as a 3rd choice i would be delighted. I think he would be happy with that as well :50:

He’s more than good enough to be backup striker for us. If the price is right we should bring him home.

So was Iwata, Kobayashi and Johnston also Pete signings?

Ridiculous :56: I don't even think we are interested in Nisbet

What a signing this could be. Cho was my 1st choice but out of all the other realistic names Nesbitt is definitely my second.

At least we know he scores goals in the SPL. Feels like a lazy option though.

I said back in 2020 when his contract was up at Dunfermline we should have taken him for free and loaned him out immediately. We should be doing that with any youngsters showing promise here.

A signing must fit the team's needs, and not just be brought in because he's decent. Nisbet could fill in for Kyogo, but not Giakoumakis.

Not someone I'm particularly keen on, and if we signed him it'd be a bit underwhelming, but it wouldn't surprise me if we are starting to look at more Scottish players for the squad in Europe as it doesn't really look like there are many in the B team ready for the step up if we want to use the full homegrown quota.
