The Bhoys celebrate during the 4-0 win over Hibs to seal Celtic's 33rd League win of 2022

The Hoops travel to the south side of the city tomorrow, with one sole focus in mind - another win that will take one more step closer to the League title.

After 2022 proved to be a hugely successful year on a league level - 33 wins in the calendar year (the most since 2001) - Ange Postecoglou will be making the point that nothing has been won yet and those efforts must be continued throughout 2023 also.

If there were any concerns about the rustiness in front of goal after the World Cup break with narrow wins (at least on the scoresheet) over Aberdeen and Livingston, these have been alleviated in the last 2 outings; a 4-1 win over St Johnstone followed by 4-0 win over Hibs to close out 2022.

However, nothing can ever be taken for granted on a on derby day trip to Ipox, and the Celts will need to be at their best if they are to replicate the dominant performance that was seen in the first meeting between these sides, back in September, which resulted in a comprehensive 4-0 victory and there are no illusions that securing another win will be hard earned.

The Sevconians for their part are under new management since that last meeting, with Michael Beale having taken over from Giovanni van Bronkhorst, and they have had a bounce since then, with 4 straight wins.

The Govan side's league record at home has once again been a rock, having won 9 and drawn just once this season and Celtic will be looking to replicate the sort of performance that saw them take all 3 points the last visit there, when Ange's side won 2-1, back in April.

That match remains the only loss in the league that Sevco have endured at Ipox since the 2019/20 season was cut short due to COVID, which underlines the task that once again stands in front of the Hoops and cannot be at anything less than at their best to take the points again.

    By the Numbers

    • The Hoops are currently on a 12 Premiership game winning streak going into this match.
    • The Bhoys won 33 League games in 2022 - equalling the most since 2001.
    • Celtic have already scored 61 goals this campaign - 33 of which have been away from Paradise.
    • The Hoops have scored 16 goals in the last 15min (incl injury time) - which already equals the total from the entire of 2021/22.
    • Sevco's current run of 4 League wins equals their best such run this season.
    • The hosts' home form has seen them win 9 and draw 1 in their 10 games there.

    • This form is especially impressive in second half displays at Ipox, totalling 17 goals for and just 1 against.

    Team News

The Celts will once again be without David Turnbull, who remains suspended following his red card against St Johnstone. This is in addition to Tony Ralston (back), Sead Hakšabanović (foot), Stephen Welsh (niggle) and James McCarthy (hamstring), while there is concern about Greg Taylor also after going off with a knock against Hibs, but the fullback is believed to be available.

Meanwhile, Josip Juranovic could come into contention now that he has been back with the squad for the past week after his World Cup efforts, as well as new signings Tomoki Iwata, Yuki Kobayashi and Alistair Johnston, however it would be a surprise if they were immediately pressed into action in this match.

As for Sevco, there are a few concerns about the striking options, although Beale has suggested that both Alfredo Morelos and Antonio Colak could be available after both had recent injury worries, while Kemar Roofe's chances has been rated as 'touch and go', while veteran midfielder Steven Davis is out for the rest of the season.

    Referee: John Beaton

This will be Beaton's 10th Premiership match of the season and has 199 top flight matches to his name in total since making his debut in March 2012. This will be his 5th time taking charge of a Glasgow derby, with Celtic having won just 1 of those previous 4 encounters - the 5-1 away win at Ipox in 2017.
