He didn't have a professional contact here just a youth contract, he turned down the process contract so they got him for something like 600k dev fee

 

Apose we can’t complain too much. we sign youngster too and sell them for million. Dembele and few others

Ange comes to your house and Celtic offer you the best terms ever for a pro contract for a teenager and your family basically laugh him out the door was disrespectful.

McNamara his agent was a sleekit wee * in it too.

Liverpool also at it in negotiations with the family and McNamara.

celtic fan * me KT knew the score few years win some trophies still go down south and make it. Earn Celtic some serious coin too after all the years developing your talent.

Aye we take a lot of flak rightly for the way we treat some youth but not the case with Doak at all. He was up training with first team just a couple of months after turning 16 and made his debut a few months later. Played against Rangers at 16 ffs. McNamara himself basically admitted Doak just chose Liverpool, not that we didn't do enough.

Fair *, I wouldn't do it and most fans wouldn't, but we move on. Glad to see him doing well.

 

Nah mate we made our play well before them. As @PaddyJamieson said he was involved with the first team it wasn’t just the wages that swayed his move let’s just say Jackie and his parents benefited massively

 

Once his decision making improves he'll be getting far more game time for them.

If you ask me we shouldn't act like a dumped ex and actually listen to what McNamara said. He was getting nothing out of playing amatuer teams. We keep exposing our young players to the likes of Civil Service Strollers then we will continue to lose our most promising youngsters.

Celtic need to lead the way in proper reserve football for these lads.

 

He is his agent mate, agents are all the same. Ange gave him a plan, the family a plan and the young guy * off. Done now but leaves a bitter taste

Gutted he left. Could easily see how good he was straight away from youth games. Miles ahead of the players around him in every way. Much quicker. Physically developed. Gallus..

Ripped it up at every level now for our youths, Scotland's and Liverpool's....quickly going through the age gaps rapidly at all..

Bit of a sickener losing him so early as he would've been playing plenty for us this year but I wish him well. He's going all the way..

No one can say he made the wrong decision. He's almost instantly playing for one of the best sides in Europe and in arguably the best league..

 

Fair enough to the lad hope he does well.

He backed his ambition going to Liverpool and it looks like it'll pay off for him.

Will be good for Scotland as well.

 

I don’t resent him, but I’m disappointed that a so called lifelong Celtic fan would choose Liverpool over us.

I guess we don’t have a good track record for bringing through youth and that’s modern football. I think our record with youth is something that needs improved badly.

 

Rumoured to be offered 15k a week, more than most of our senior players will earn. That's life changing money that he can use for his family.

 

Him choosing Liverpool over us isn't something to get annoyed at but the fact he didn't even bother to sign a pro contract so we at least got a decent fee is a bit of a sickener.

He was massively rated and coming off the bench in what where some huge games for us so no reason he couldn't have signed a deal and still got his big money move in the summer there, it wouldn't have stopped him getting the money he's currently on.

Prime example would be someone like Bellingham, had his choice of clubs but still signed a pro deal at Birmingham so the club that spent so long developing him got a proper fee.
